How to manually add a current WordPress user to BP and Directory

Hello,

I have some WordPress users that are already listed in my Users section (before my switch to the Sweetdate theme). How do I go about getting a user ‘connected’ with the Buddypress functionality and how do I get them listed in the Directory page?

I have tried to change their ROLE but nothing seemed to work yet.
