Theme update>

What’s wrong?
I did not even once after purchasing 3.9 version update notification.
I made sure the envato download.
And I twice had a minor patch?
I do not know why.

It was not. 3.9 was released while they are still testing/debugging 4.0

An API key isnt the same as your purchase code. Go to your envato account and set up and api key. Use that key in theme options.
