I have been having the same issue that is seems like a lot of people are having with the log in pop up. It just sits at the “Sending info. Please wait….” forever and never redirects. It happens on and off on a case by case basis. I’m wondering if it may have something to do with the WordPress Heartbeat? My site times out a lot when I’m editing because of the wordpress heartbeat…I don’t know if it could be connected. I also have Object Caching turned off (cause I know that was a solution for some people). It also seems to be fixed sometimes when I clear my cache.

Until you guys get this figured out, is there a way to make the login/log out menu links link to the normal login page but still show “log in” in the menu when they are logged out and “log out” when they are logged in?

Hello, it can be related to heartbeat, yes, as its actually trying to send the information and something is not letting it, try this for the heart beat https://wordpress.org/plugins/heartbeat-control/
It could be a plugin conflict too, try deactivating all plugins but buddypress and if it works then, activate one by one until you find the one.
    Let me know 🙂
