    Hello,

When sending a message to another member, after the text is submitted, it does not show as “sent”, unless you refresh the page. This causes the user to wonder if the message was sent, or not.

I already turned off all my plugins, cleaned the cache, and tested it on a demo site with the exact same plugins, settings, and theme. The demo site does not have any issues.

Here is a video of what happens:

Do you have any idea what the problem might be?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Take a look the green message it’s displayed and also the autocomplete it works but your server seems to be a bit slow.

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bxo5b6iHWRMwMFVoQWlsWGliUFE/view

Install wp query monitor / https://wordpress.org/plugins/p3-profiler/ and see what causes the load on the server

    Hi @radu

    1. Yes, the servers are painfully slow. It has been an ongoing issue with Site Ground and I am beyond frustrated with their service. Any suggestions on better hosting?

    2. Tested a few things and here’s what I found:

In the first video below, I send you a private message. I found that the initial message works fine, but follow up replies are where the problem happens. Take a look >>>

    https://db.tt/gxGqan8LJX

In the second video below, from my profile, I mention you in a status update. I then comment on the update. Everything appears to work okay. Take a look >>>

    http://somup.com/cDl1b8dAj

In the third video below, from the site-wide news feed, I make two status updates. In the first one I mention you. In the second one I do not. It works fine and I am able to comment on the status updates.

However, I noticed that prior updates (lower in the news feed) do not have “Comment” links. It turns out that after you refresh the page, the Comment link disappears for every prior status update. You can see it in the video and in the snap shot attached to this message.

However, this is only true for the Site Wide News Feed. I looked to see if the Comment link disappeared in my Profile News Feed, and it didn’t. The Comment link still displays in my Profile News Feed (see attached snapshot). Take a look >>>

So here are the issues I’ve found so far:

    1. Yes, my host’s servers are pathetic. Would love if you have a better idea for a host.

    2. When communicating via PRIVATE MESSAGE, it is the replies to the initial message, which do not display properly.

    3. COMMENT links in the Site Wide News Feed do not display after refreshing the page.

Thanks for all your help with this.

    Cheers.

    Hi,

    I saw that,

    Try to update un-updated plugins.

I’ve tried to debug the comments button that not appears, but I cannot do this because the server it’s so slow, in most times the server goes away.

Try to de-activate unused plugins and get a better hosting, you can take a look at this page, this is what WordPress recommends : https://wordpress.org/hosting/ but if you will use so many plugins you will need a VPS I think, you can try a shared hosting before buying a vps from another company.

Let me know when you solve with the server performance to can debug the comment button that disappears

    Cheers

    Hi @radu

Okay, I upgraded the servers to the Entry Level Cloud Servers…first one in this link: https://www.siteground.com/cloud-hosting.htm

Right away, the messaging issue in Private Messaging was solved. It work properly now. 🙂

However the “Comment” link in the Site Wide Feed still disappears after refreshing the page.

    Waiting for your reply.

    Thanks for all your help.

    Cheers.

    Hi,

I see that comment problem that disappears, please de-activate all plugins to see if something causes this if this still continues,de-activate child theme and, re-upload the parent theme files over the existing one, try to update all un-updated plugins.

This feature works in default kleo theme.

    Cheers

    Hi @radu

I discovered something interesting, by accident…

Login, and go to http://5firemen.com/news-feed (Home Page once logged in) and you will see the comment link error we are trying to solve.

However if you go to http://5firemen.com/activity (Buddypress default Site Wide News Feed) you will see the error does not exist.

The pages are identical, except that /news-feed was built with Visual Composer for the middle column. See attached snapshot.

The purpose for building the middle column /news-feed with Visual Composer, is so that I can add special content at the top of the news feed, if need be.

So does that help narrow down what the problem could be?

    Thanks!

    Hi @radu

    I figured it out!

The problem was related to Visual Composer. Turns out the VC element “Activity Stream” eliminates the “Comment” link.

However, if you use the VC element “Activity Page” everything works correctly.

See snap shot. Highlighted element is the correct one to use.

I made the change and the “Comment” link works perfectly now. 🙂

    Thanks!
