ParticipantMeta description issues, I am using a directory plugin and before we had the upgrades to kloe, the meta description and title tags used to work..
Now all our meta information is stuck on one meta information,,,as you knew, very bad for rankins, and now I know why our site has been struggling.

ModeratorHi,
I have tested on my local development playground with same configuration ( WP4.4 , GeoDirectory, Seo by Yoast ) and i don;t have that title problem.
The issue is probably related to some custom code that you could have added or other settings.
Try to install a fresh development site without any custom modifications then try to reproduce the scenario.
Cheers

ParticipantHi I did install a new instance on a new domain using the W2 directory plugin and had the same results

Participant}?>
<title><?php wp_title(”); ?></title>
</head><?phpCan you check our the above code.. It seams to pull in the date to a point, but i do not know the correct way to configure it in the header.php
your header.php is missing the elements to pull the meta data for the directory section…
December 15, 2015 at 15:38 #93370Andrei
ModeratorThe header file doesn’t need to contain the “title” tags, they will be automatically added by wordpress into the wp_head() function.
Please be sure you have the latest version of our theme ( 3.1.3 ) and as well the latest version of all plugins you’re using in your site.
As my colleague told you, we’ve tested into a similar use case and everything worked just fine, if you can provide us more in-depth details about how to replicate this issue on a fresh installed system we’ll be happy to continue assisting you and fix the issue if it reveals to be a problem related to our theme.
Looking forward.

ParticipantOk, i though so..
How could it just break.. while it is ok for other themes
December 15, 2015 at 15:55 #93379Andrei
ModeratorCan you please install and test with the latest wordpress theme and let me know if there are any differences into your title structure ? https://wordpress.org/themes/twentysixteen/
This is the comparison we did on our local install and there wasn’t any differences.

ParticipantTwentysixteen show the same issues.
Twentythirteen is ok
I think that there is a bug with wordpress 4.4 and kloe and W2 directory and Yoest
December 15, 2015 at 17:09 #93393Andrei
ModeratorI think the issue might be from the plugins, the theme itself doesn’t change the structure of the title, what was changed lately in wordpress standards is that instead of themes to use wp_title, now they have to remove it in order to let plugins manage this title tag more easily, but this should have been implemented by all plugins already.

ParticipantFrom Moz.com
Hi Taiger – … the H1 titles in the directory section look different than the other sections of the site. Have you tried applying class=”page-title” to the H1 titles in Directory section? Maybe there is some logic generating the title tag that looks for this class to be present.

Today on my test site running wordpress 4.4 which was showing the same meta issues. I rolled back wordpress to 3.9.1 and all works fine..
What do you think, has anyone else notice that your meta title are not working as they should
December 16, 2015 at 13:28 #93604Andrei
ModeratorYes there was several issues with other plugins as well because wordpress 4.4 deprecated the old wp_tile() function. Even the structure of the home page title has changed in 4.4.
Let’s just hope plugin authors will step up and fix their issues asap, as buddypress did for example ( https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/6675 )
Cheers

ParticipantHi the directory plugin has had a number of updates but it did not fix the issue..
When we usethemforest Newspaper theme for example (and other themes we have tested) it all works ok.. the directory plugin author says that it is a kloe issue..
Can you please take a look at this..
my test site with Newspaper and Kloe is on:

If you can test, switch themes if you like just to see what it is that is causing the issue..
It is the directory pags that do not change the meta title…

ModeratorPlease change your theme to ” Twenty Sixteen” and you’ll see there is no issue from our site, most probably it’s just the plugin you’re using is not up to date with latest wordpress standards in matter of meta title.
