    Hi

When I view Members’ Page on mobile device (upright) the Members’ Avatars appear, but the Extended profile fields are blocked and a large white gap is shown instead.  If I tilt the phone side ways I can see the extended Profile Fields squeezed in (just), but not when the phone is upright.

I have only made changes to member-loop.php, and functions.php in Child Theme.

Looks like a formatting problem?  Any ideas how I can get the Members’ Avatars and the Extended Profile fields to display on the mobile the same way (or similar) as to on a desktop?

    Thanks in advance.

    Owen

Hello, apply the main theme, if you still see the error then it could be a third party plugin.
    Let me know 🙂

    Hi Laura

I have narrowed the problem down. Just to remind you this is a formatting issue on mobile phone only. I updated the theme and tried the main theme and the problem was resolved. I then re-activated the child theme and deactivated all plugins except for buddypress and the problem still persists on the mobile.

So I knew it was coming from the files being read from the child theme. By removing all other changes I narrowed it down to the members-loop.php file in Kleo-child/buddypress/members folder. In this file I have deleted some activities and added extended user profiles.

I then copied a clean unchanged copy of members-loop.php from /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/members/ and then put it in Kleo-child/buddypress/members folder (unchanged).

Without making any changes to the original members-loop.php file the problem occurred. So as soon as I copy the members-loop.php file from /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/members/ to Kleo-child/buddypress/members folder, the problem occurs (but only on my mobile phone).

Do you have any idea what could be the cause of this?

    Thank you

    Owen

Hello, the question is why are you adding that file there? 🙂
Kleo already has that file at the main theme, which is optimized for KLEO so is normal you have issues adding a file from another template.

    Hi Laura

I am placing the members-loop.php file in the Kleo child theme folder as I wish to make alterations to the output of the members page.

Having reviewed most of the documentation on child themes online I believe that if you wish to alter a theme file it should be done in the child theme.

The theme itself does not fully meet my requirements so I need to make small changes. I have followed online documentation which recommends this approach.

Are you saying the Kleo theme cannot be altered using child themes?

Is the problem with the Kleo theme? Or is there another reason for the problem I am having?

    Thanks

    Owen

Hello, KLEO doesuse child theme, but you need to copy the file from the main theme of KLEO, not from buddypress template 🙂

    Hi Laura

That’s solved now. Thank you for your help. I edited the members-loop.php file from the Kleo/buddypress/members folder and it worked a dream.

    Thanks again

Hello, please copy the edited file to your child theme, following the same path ( create missing folders ) Because if you update the theme your changes will be lost at main theme
