Modifying VC template functionality

I am trying to change the functionality in the visual composer elements I’ve used on my site.

For example I am currently using a media grid to display 6 images in a row across my page. These have a cool animated effect when hovered.

When the items are clicked the image thumbnail shows the full size image in a light-box. I don’t want this to happen.

Instead I want to wrap each image in a link tag that redirects the user to a specific page.

I have tried digging through the plugins folder to look for the template files so I can override them but I can’t find a thing. If anyone who could point me in the right direction here, it would be greatly appreciated.

VC allows you to edit the design settings for that. Click item design. That will launch the grid editor. Click on the block settings and change what the link does. Now, I’m only telling you that so you understand what’s really happening. It will not allow you to add a custom link to each image, only a custom link to be used on all images.

Now that you’ve seen that, the actual code that produces it is in /js_composer/include/templates/shortcodes/vc_gitem_zone.php.

That’s about as much help as I can offer you on this.

I am failing to locate “block settings” please see screenshots. Where exactly does it give me the option to add a URL if the items are clicked?

Click on modify selected. That will launch the grid editor. Click on the pencil icon near the word normal.

You should consult the VC documentation as well.
