Right now I´ve installed the theme on this path:
http://www.mycolombianwife.com/blog/
When the website is finished I would like to move to to the root folder
http://www.mycolombianwife.com/The theme should replace the actual version of the website , which is plain .html
I´ve never done this before and my concern is that if I move the site incorrectly
that all my SEO efforts will be lost.I would do it as follows:
1. I would download the wordpress theme and then upload it into the root / folder.
2. Then I would delete the index, html file
3. Then would change the path in the wp config file to the root / path
4. Delelte the wp them from its former folderI suppose that when I do that the WP theme would appear on the root folder
http://www.mycolombianwife.com/The actual website has about 300 pages
What do I do with them (from a SEO point of view)?
Do I leave them like they are ?I would want the visitors to see the new version of the website.
I think the best way is to automatically redirect each page them to the new website if thats possible (and if that doesnt ruin my SEO)
Is there a wp plugin for this kind of operations?
Thank you
March 29, 2014 at 01:59 #13733AbeKeymasterHi,
You should just move the files in the root location and change site link from http://www.mycolombianwife.com/blog to http://www.mycolombianwife.com/
You can read more about moving the site here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPressTo fix the not found links that would occur you can try a plugin like http://wordpress.org/plugins/redirection/ or make some rules in the .htaccess for redirection on each link or maybe you have a pattern to match all links
