    So I’m going through some instructions and found the automatic updates to the Kleo theme. I went to Theme updates and inserted my themeforest username and API key (thats the purchase code right?)

    The instructions send me to the updates section of the dashboard. I’m not seeing the Kleo update available in the theme area.

    I’m kind of hesitant to do the manual update as I’m can already tell that will be a 5 hour affair deleting files from my server and then running into a million and one issues. Is there an easier way I can get this update up and running smoothly?

    How do I do a back up of my current files if the automatic update decides to start working?

    Hi, in fact your API key is not your purchase code. You need to go to your Themeforest account settings and generate an API key.

    For backup try a plugin for backup or backup database and files

    Have you generated an APi key on Themeforest and added it to Theme options?

    Yes I have. Then Kleo 4.0 update became available. I chose to update it but it failed saying a valid URL was not provided. I decided to wait and come back and now the 4.0 update is not even there as an option. It disappeared from the Dashboard update section as well as the Theme updates section. Should I try generating a new API?

    Same thing happened. I generated a new API. Inserted it. Went to Theme Updates and the update was available. I clicked on it and it said that the update was unavailable and to check back in a minute. I waited a while and now the update is no longer there at all.

    If that somehow does not work for you then please install this plugin from envato that will update your theme https://github.com/envato/envato-wordpress-toolkit

    It also needs to be configured with username and API. read the steps on the link I gave you

    Installed the plugin, my username and API were already there. Saved it, waited about 25 minutes, still nothing.

    This problem randomly fixed itself and after a day or so the update initiated. I updated the plugins and everything is fine so far. Thanks for the help.
