Nickname/Username display problem

Hi, i am having some troubles finguring out what the problem is, thats why i am asking you 🙂

If i take i look on my profilpage, i can see that my Username is the name that is displayed, and on the activity stream my Nickname is displayed. That’s confusing and i big security concern. It’s never a good solution to output the username to the public.

How do i change correct this? What i want is, to display the users Nickname instead of the Username (everywhere).

*The same goes for the URL to the profil, that should also be http://www.udesex.dk/medlemmer/nickname instead of http://www.udesex.dk/medlemmer/username

Hello, mentions work based on usernames, and cannot be done with display names because of how Buddypress works, site users need to think carefully about what username they use when they sign up, as there is not option to change that because the mention is linked to the username and not the display name.

This is a Buddypress related issue and i cannot give you a solution about this because its a core thing that they would need to check out.
