I am having an issue when trying to post comments to the activity stream when in a three column (left and right column).
The scenario:
The activity stream is in the main column. When a user clicks to comment on a post in the sitewide activity stream, the focus goes to that post/comment section. The url is activity/ (then appended by the ac name and the ac id). This sets the page to anchor at the ac id. You cannot scroll back up, only down. When the user presses “post”, the page refreshes, the alert that the comment has been posted flashes and it goes back to the same url with the same anchor (ie.http://sitename.com/activity/?ac=18858/#ac-form-18858) on the activity stream with no text in the comment box. This does not refresh back to the regular activity page. If you then click the main navigation link to go to the activity page, the comment is there. The commenting function in this scenario is essentially broken.
Any help?

February 9, 2015 at 03:51 #45202dmccuistonParticipantIt looks like the AJAX call is not being made. I’m no closer to fixing it, but just wanted add where I’ve been able to dig in.
February 9, 2015 at 15:13 #45244sharmstrModeratorI cant recreate your issue. Off the top of my head, I’d say there is a jquery conflict with something being loaded in the third column.

Thanks for the reply. I disabled all plugins and it still has the same issue. This is for the sitewide activity stream (forgot to mention that). Could I give you login creds to see it for yourself?February 10, 2015 at 12:24 #45378sharmstrModeratorSure. And yes, I assumed that. That’s what I tested.

February 11, 2015 at 02:47 #45522sharmstrModeratorFor whatever reason, I assumed that it worked with one side bar, that’s why I didnt ask you about wp engine before. I hate that host 😀

February 11, 2015 at 03:01 #45529sharmstrModeratorNo suggestions. I really have no experience with WP Engine other than dealing with this B&*+LHKJKKL. 🙂
I will say that I’m happy with Siteground but not experience with them to strongly suggest that you make a move.
Again, I’m sorry for not catching this right off the bat.

May 21, 2015 at 03:39 #59685dmccuistonParticipantSo we are starting to see an issue where messages sent through the BuddyPress messaging system. When we commented out the fix for WPEngine from our functions file, it went away, but of course the problem with posting comments that this code block fixed comes back. Any ideas what in this code block could be contributing to double postings of messages? Object Cache is turned off, btw.
Thanks!

May 21, 2015 at 15:31 #59730dmccuistonParticipantOkay, thanks for the response! I read through and I am not sure I see a solution here, just others reporting the same problem? Am I missing something?
May 21, 2015 at 15:40 #59732sharmstrModeratorThere is no solution that I know of. Its still a wpengine issue. I didnt feel like explaining why again so I sent you the link. It was better when they weren’t loading the required scripts at all.
