ParticipantGreetings,I recently tested the “notice to all users” feature on the Sweetdate message software we use and it works great. The notification shows up under the message tab in the notices section. The only problem is that there is no notification as in a 1 or * that lets them know there is a message there.Perhaps there is something on the backend we need to turn on. Would you be able to offer any advice. This is a crucial piece to the puzzle when we start charging people for memberships and need to send out a message to everyone. Can we link this notification up to the users e-mail addresses? Please advise,Mike ReedJuly 22, 2016 at 21:58 #129870Laura
ModeratorHello, messages that are for all users will first appear at their screen like popup, then will be at their messages section 🙂

ParticipantHello Laura,
I hope your having a nice weekend! 🙂 I understand that is the way it should work but its not working like that on my site.
Please see the attachments.
I created a fake account <Pancho> to do the testing.
I created a notice to all users with my admin account <Helpdesk>.
I verified the sent folder. Nothing sent.
I checked Pancho’s messages. No pop-ups in the message section. The notice actually never made it at all.
We currently DO NOT have the following plugins installed on our site. Paid Memberships Pro, Revolution Slider, Woocommerce, bbPress and rtMedia. Could this be creating the problem somehow?
Please advise,
Mike

ModeratorHello, deactivated your plugins to test if it was a plugin issue and an UsrPro error appeared, are you using userpro? Check it out by ftp and try to rename the theme folder to be able to login to the admin dashboard as now is blocked by that error.
The notice error seems like its deactivated, did you hide it with css or any other custom code?

ParticipantHi Laura! This is from my web developer!
* I restored the site via the database so it is not getting the white screen any more.
* Our child theme depends on two plugins: User Portal and BuddyPress. Deactivating either of these will cause a fatal error. While this is admittedly not ideal, there is not currently a workaround for this fact.
* If the above two plugins do need to be deactivated for troubleshooting, please activate the parent SweetDate theme first and then deactivate them.
* I don’t really understand what is being tested or troubleshot here. Is 7th Queen claiming that the theme __should__ show a little “1” when there’s a site-wide notification, but for some reason it is not?
* I noticed that in this whole process, some things broke, like the footer no longer has any content. Probably not a huge deal, but we want to be careful with what we are doing in that regard.
Let me know what else I can do to help, or if I can provide more info!

ModeratorHello, the issue is that there is no popup notice when you send a sitewide message, this is default on buddypress, not related to the theme. So this buddypress feature is turned off somehow at your site.
As the site is very customized i do not know where to look and this issue should be checked by your developer team, not us. Anyways this issue is related to buddypress not the themeHi there!!! ParticipantHello,
I am going to attempt to activate the parent theme and test this BuddyPress functionality. You are right that there are several customizations on the child theme, but still the parent theme will let us do a baseline test.
Can you please verify that the following comments on this thread are private?

ModeratorHi,
It means that one of the admins has send a sitewide notice thru buddypress (see the screenshot)

While sending a private message and you check sitewide notice all users will receive that.
This it’s generated by BuddyPress not form KLEO theme
Cheers

ModeratorDo you have the latest version of WordPress ? If not update those
Do you have the latest version of Kleo theme ? If not update those
Do you have the latest version of plugins installed ? If not update those
If you de-activate all plugins it works ? if yes enable back plugins one by one to identify what causes this.
If you de-activate the child theme it works ?
