Portfolio Filters stopped working

After we updated to both Kleo 4.2.1 & Visual Composer 5.1.1 the portfolio grid filters we use on our membership site no longer work. (I can’t show you b/c it requires membership).

Even though this VC shortcode comes from Kleo & K-elements I wonder if the latest VC update which includes this:
04.04.2017 – ver 5.1.1 Added: extra security check for grid ajax calls to harden security

is somehow causing a problem with the filters.

Also we are on WP Engine.

Is anyone else having this issue?

I also can confirm that this issue started after upgrade to Kleo 4.1.4
