Hi – My site will probably end up having 100+ groups, which would be somewhat inefficient to scroll through on the main groups page. All of the groups fit into probably 10 main categories. Is there some way for me to organize the groups into categories?
For example: Is it possible to have 10 clickable image boxes on the main groups page that when clicked on show all the groups in that category? For example: A box for Energy, which when clicked on would display all of the energy-related groups, such as Solar Energy, Wind Energy, etc.
Or, is there any other way to organize groups so that there are not 100+ groups randomly displayed on the groups landing page?
Thanks!

If it was possible to assign a category to a group when creating it, then it could be automatically displayed for that category of groups. Ideally, I’d like to do it just like MeetUp.com with boxes for each group, but another solution would be to add a category field to the grid that displays Most Popular groups, and then we could display the groups by category laid out in a grid. Maybe some of this is already possible and I just haven’t discovered it yet!

December 21, 2016 at 20:22 #147732palicaliParticipantHi Laura – Thanks! That looks like it could be a good solution. Do you know if there is an example somewhere of what it looks like when it is done?
I’d like the Group Type Metabox to be a pretty box with photo/text name that is clickable and leads to a list of all the groups within the Group Type. A 10-square grid for main group types would be perfect.
I would love your help! Thanks for offering. I am not a developer, so while I can see the instructions at the link you sent, I don’t have any idea of where to plug in those codes or how to undo it if I mess things up. 🙂
Thanks!
