Post formats: any difference?

Hi, maybe it’s just me, but is there any difference between the available post formats?

The documentation does not mention anything and a picture post looks the same as a regular post with a picture or an ‘aside’ with a picture etc? The post write/edit screen also does not change anything when choosing one over the other?

What is the point of all these formats if they are the same? This is quite confusing for endusers.

The main purpose is formatting of masonry and carsosels. For example, if you use standard post and put an image at the top, it may look the same when you go to the post page, but there will be no image in masonry or carousels.

Image – Uses featured image.
Video – Uses video supplied in Theme General Settings
Audio – Uses audio supplied in Theme General Settings
Quote – While stylize the text
Gallery – Will add an image slider to images supplied in Theme General Settings

Also note, you can add Spotify and Soundcloud by selecting Video Post and inputting the url into the Video URL of the Theme General Settings.
