Potfolio Image + Thumbs fails to load completely

I’ve got a portfolio page setup using the Image Gallery > Image + Thumbs option. When saved, the page will load correctly the very first time… everything is there. On refresh, and every time thereafter, it loads the large image, but the thumbnails come in dimmed. They still work when click (i.e. the large image is replaced) but they don’t have the visual transition that makes them full color.

I’ve also noticed that the Related Posts section below shows another placeholder post, but the thumbnail is scaled about 25% and freezes there instead of scaling up and becoming full color.

If I open the Javascript Console in Chrome, it almost seems to “fix” the problem, as most of the time everything loads completely (not true in Firefox or with Firebug).

I’ve tried getting to errors using Firebug, but there I get no output when running profile. I have seen this message pop up, though:

“The Web Console logging API (console.log, console.info, console.warn, console.error) has been disabled by a script on this page.”

Any thoughts? Aside from activating some of the basic plugins like BuddyPress, bbPress, Paid Memberships Pro, the only other change that has been made to the theme is that the “Portfolio” section has been named to “Recipes”.
