    Hi,

    Two questions:

    1) I am about to launch my community site, but before I do, I want to invite a bunch of early testers to start inputting content and testing the site out. I currently have the site in maintenance mode. Is there any way to allow people to register as new members on the site without taking it out of maintenance mode?

    2) I had the site live for a while and got about 40 spam users registered. How can I reduce spam like that once I make the site live again — is there any way to require a captcha when registering?

    Thanks!

    Hello 🙂
1- You need to register them manually, thats is the best solution
2- Try BP Nocaptcha recaphta 🙂

    1) So if I register them manually and keep the site on maintenance mode, how do they log in when they go to my URL?

    2) I installed the captcha plugin you recommended. In order to configure it, I need to add a snippet of code before the closing </head> tag on your HTML template AND at the end of the <form> where I want the reCAPTCHA widget to appear (registration page). How do I do that.. where do I input each of those two snippets?

    THANK YOU!!

Hello, use https://wordpress.org/plugins/maintenance/ as it allows to show a login form
    2) Add to header.php right? Copy the main theme header.php and paste it at the child theme, then edit it and add it as its explained

Thanks for the maintenance plugin, unfortunately it does not allow me to make any changes to the text/logo/image (I made changes and they saved but are not displaying on the front end…). At least there is a user login though.

The editor on my child theme says for header.php “that file cannot be edited” so I cannot alter it on the child theme. Is there anywhere else in the backend that allows me to add code to the header page?

Also, I still need to know where to put the second snippet, which goes on the registration form….?

    Thank you!
