Profile visibility issue

Hi,

In the context of GDPR I have run several tests to see if we comply with the new rules and regulations. I observed that even if a user is setting the age to be shared only with his friends , it will be display on the user profile card which is not OK. It will be hidden on his profile. In the context of GDPR age is considered private information and it should be protected if the user choose so. Can you please check. Attached some images.

Hello, the age is visible there for users that are NOT friends? or for friends and the user itself?

Hi Laura,

user has setup to show the age only to friends however on the members page it is shown to everybody. In the example from my pictures, “I am” and “City” (Oras) is set to be shared only with friends and is hidden on the members page (which is the expected behaviour) while age who has the same setting is visible. Hope now things are more clear.

I i choose a filed to be visible only for his friends and i will check as guest(unlogged in) i cannot see it

Did you have any php snippet related to the member info in directory in child theme functions.php ?

Hi Radu,

Sorry for the late answer but I was off a few days. The problem is not with the field being visible in the profile of the user, there all is fine. The problem is with the field (and here I’m talking only about Age field, City and I am seems to be hidden correctly) being shown in user card in the members’ directory view. Did you checked my initial added screenshots (look at Profile_card.jpg above)?

Hi,

So you want the age that appears in the members directory to respect the visibility setting, that feature to show some data in member directory was implemented some time ago where the buddypress wasn’t have that settings for visibility.

I will look for a solution related to that

Thanks for your support. The requirement is that if a user choose to share certain information only with his/her friends for example, that information will remain hidden in all other cases in all places where the information is displayed. This would be in line with GDPR requirements.

In my opinion, for Age there is something missing as for fields like “I am” or “City” functionality works fine.

Hi Radu,

Thanks for your support. I have replaced the file as advised however:
1. Age is still visible to all users logged in even if in the profile is is mentioned to be visible only to friends.
2. Names are now doubled – this seems to be side effect.

I still need to test as I think something is wrong on my site due to translations. However meanwhile I remark that with the new file the links for “Members” and “My friends” are not working (see attached). Have a look at this until I will do additional tests.

Not sure if that issue it’s related to my change.. please do the next, if you see the same if you de-activate child theme, please delete the sweetdate theme, re-download it again from themeforest, then just replace that file and it should be ok!

Tried to see your members directory it’s private.

nu stiu nici eu daca problema apare de la noul file insa ce am observat e ca daca revin la file-ul initial problema cu duplicatele dispare. As aprecia daca ai putea sa te uiti scurt si sa vezi daca nu e ceva in function.php de la child theme care are de a face cu asta. Am un cod customizat pentru ce apare vizibil sub membru in lista de membrii si poate aia sa aiba acest efect.

Daca nu gasesti nimic, o sa incerc sa fac ce ai propus, desi nu e vorba doar de un sigur file de inlocuit mai sunt si cele care le-am modificat pentru captcha daca iti amintesti si multe alte setari la nivel de tema ce le-am facut si pe care trebuie sa le documentez in prealabil.

Noi oferim support decat pentru parent theme nu si pentru custom cod din child theme, ca sa iti poti da seama daca intr-adevar child theme cauzeaza asta, dezactiveaza child theme activand parent. Apoi testeaza si vezi daca este in regula.

Sau poti astepta pana diseara-maine, un update la sweetdate o sa fie publicat incluzand cele mentionate de tine. Intre timp testeaza sa vezi daca child cauzeaza acea problema.

OK, pot sa fac asa cum spui insa prin custom cod e doar cod ce l-am luat de la voi de pe site din knowledge base. Nu e nimic inventat de mine. Concret m-am referit la codul mentionat in “How to add Profile Fields under Member Name at Members Directory”. De ce cred eu ca ar avea acest cod un impact e pentru ca am observat o problema cu traducera. De exemplu, problema cu visibilitatea am impresia ca vine de la traducere pentru ca dupa ce am trandus majoritatea chestiilor, informatiile ce apar in member card sau nu stiu cum sa ii spun, au disparut. Si daca in functia de mai jos am adaugat o traducere a unuia din campurile predefinite, de exemplu am adaugat “oras” in loc de “city” au aparut din nou.

Am deschis un alt ticket “Other translations issues” unde fac referire la asta si am cerut detalii despre cum trebuie traduse campurile de profil pentru ca cele predefinite exista si in Loco insa traducerea nu pare sa apara corect in profilul utilizatorului. De asemenea, am avut un alt ticket deschis – Translation for some section of the Theme – unde tu m-ai ajutat si ai sugerat ca group field-urile precum Base, Looking for, Myself Summary sa le traduc in profile fields direct. In acelasi timp, am observat ca aceste expresii sunt presente si in Loco deci ma intreb cum cele doua se leaga intre ele si daca nu cumva e un conflict daca le modific in profile fields si ele sunt traduse in Loco. Nu inteleg de ce aceste expresii apar acolo si nu se reflecta in UI. Pentru ce sunt ele in Loco?

Poate ma insel si e altceva insa de cand am tradus am inceput sa am mai multe probleme si incerc sa inteleg de ce si cum sa le rezolv. Tin sa mentionez ca nu am facut alte schimbari in cod decat cele mentionate de tine.

Loco translate scaneaza absolut toate stringurile incluzand cele din backend, theme options etc… anumite stringuri pot fi identice insa afisate in alte locuri.

Am deactivate child theme si se intampla la fel, dubios.. poti sa-mi lasi FTP sa ma uit mai in detail ?

O sa re-uploadez parent theme incluzand fixurile anterioare, observ ca update-ul nu apare in themeforest inca…

Hello,

Problema rezolvata, am uploadat direct tema din nou si se vede ok, cu exceptia ca atunci cand activez child theme arata asa

Deci problema este undeva la unu din fisierele din child,nu am putut sa imi dau seama exact de unde pt ca prin webftp imi este ffff peste mana (e nasol rau) si incearca sa redenumesti fiecare fisier/folder pana gasesti cauza adaugand prefix la file/folders stop_ sau oricare altul.

Am aruncat o privire scurta pe site si am vazut ca partea cu duplicatele s-a rezolvat intr-adevar insa problema pentru care am ridcat ticketul e inca prezenta. Daca iti amintesti e referitoare la GDPR si partea de condifentialitate a datelore personale.

Practic, varsta ramane in continuare vizibila tuturor chiar daca utilizatorul doreste ca acesta informatie sa fie ascunsa de restul lumii. Asa cum vad eu aceasta problema e inca nerezolvata.

Am atasat cateva poze cu exemple.

Spune-mi daca ceva e neclar sau mai ai nevoie de informatii.
