Receiving other users messages

Some of our users on Orr site have pointed out how they are receiving other people messages via private a messages.

Is there something that is not setup correctly or is this a buddypress issue?

Hello, each user should be able to send a private message to other users, its the default behavior
Can you explain a bit more the issue?

Hi Laura

So the email notifications that I have been receiving when a user sends a message are coming to me when they are directed to another user.

For example :

You received a new contact form message: Name: Diane and Les Email: ltorgyik@sympatico.ca Message: Hi Sexy bum lm Diane do you go to Jeanies in Mississauga,because we are going today Sat. Apr. 9th. and lm bisexual Thanks

This was not directed to me as I know these users and they are trying to message someone else but it came to me in the contact form email. IT actually came to me three times.

Happy Hedonist Swingers Club & Swingers Website
Hi gdogg,

laurameet sent you a new message: “HELLO”

“I’m playful, sexy, AND full of wild ideas. Let’s see if you can keep up with me. You can text me at (479) 274-8229 or vanderberglaura8@gmail.com . Laura”

I’ve subbed to this topic as the bug you’re describing is worrying and I wanted to see if it was a specific issue to you, a buddypress issue or a plugin / theme issue (the latter being the least likely) .

I’m not sure if you can but you should probably edit your reply above as you’ve breached data protection for your users and could get sued. Thesee forums do appear in Google search and anyone searching for the persons email or phone number will now know your users intimate and private activities. I’ve got no qualms about your business what so ever, I’m just concerned for you and your users privacy.

Hello, as your message says, its a contact form what they are filling, not the private message of a profile
If you go to a profile and send a message, it goes to the inbox of that user.
But if they fill your contact form thinking they are sending a private message to someone, of course its sent to you as is your contact form 🙂

I totally understand that the contact form message should come to me but the person intended is not me. Another example is an email I received today from a user, where I the admin was not suppose to receive.

As you can see the email is sent to a user named blackmale1 but its coming to my email:

From: Happy Hedonist Swingers Club & Swingers Website <wordpress@happyhedonist.com>
Sent: April 17, 2016 12:32:12 PM
To: blackmale1
Subject: [Happy Hedonist Swingers Club & Swingers Website] New message from hubbywifeforfun

If you continue to receive other users message,it seems that something is wrong, in our default theme only with theme plugins this is not happens,

Do you have added/made some modifications in child theme ?

Also disable all plugins except buddypress and try again
