Redirect visitor to login or register page if user not logged in and restrict their access

Hi,

I want to restrict visitors access and prompt them to register by redirecting them to register page. They would only have access to home page and when they click on a member or search for a member they are redirected to register page. I have tried a few plugins but they dont seem to work.
