Hi, here is a request for a future update. A Captcha in the BuddyPress and/or WordPress Registration Page and Login Page. I am using 2 different simple Math Captcha Plugins for both, the Login WordPress Page and the BuddyPress Registration Page. The Plugins are:
For BuddyPress Registration Page:
http://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-security-check/For WordPress Login and bbPress:
http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-math-captcha/Well, but unfortunately or fortunately, after reading this article:
http://www.calcatraz.com/blog/math-based-captcha-security-1551I suppose, this is not a secure method.
But there is the reCaptcha and a lot other methods to protect forms, comments or signup, bbpress, buddypress registration and login.
In my opinion, in a promissing Theme with this quality, it is very important to strengthen it in terms of security!
So, here is my suggestion and request: A Captcha integrated system.

Once installed go to “Plugins > Editor” select BuddyPress reCAPTCHA from the drop down and enter your reCAPTCHA keys (public in public etc). Once added it will add this reCAPTCHA to the registration form only.
Further you could also possibly install “WangGuard” once set up properly it should keep a lot of the spam registrations out of your site.
Just some thoughts from a Kleo user.
February 28, 2014 at 05:19 #11603JonaroParticipantHey Kieran, Thank You!
I’m using the BuddyPress Security Check:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-security-check/But, as I read, it is very insecure and easily bypassed by inteligent bots and scripts.
I will try the reCaptcha.
As for the WangGuard, it appears to be very complex and I’m affraid to conflict with other Plugins, i don’t know. I will try it to see…March 1, 2014 at 02:50 #11685AbeKeymasterHi Jonaro, reCaptcha should be pretty secure. Try with the plugin Kieran suggested.
We think that this kind of functionality is best achieved using plugins so we can somehow separate theme features from extra functionality.Cheers

I installed and activated reCAPTCHA and add the API keys as instructed, but it is not showing on the registration page.
I also have WangGuard and Askimet activated.
What should I do in order to have the captcha showing on the registration page?
I appreciate any help. Thank you, Veronica.

April 27, 2014 at 19:36 #16209vcarltonParticipantThanks Kieran, I had already tried those two things, did it again now just in case I missed something….still nothing. The keys are correct and disabling Askimet doesn’t do anything.
Here is my registration page:

Anything else you can suggest that I can try?
Cheers!

Are you using Kleo or SweetDate? This is a Kleo topic and I’ve never used SweetDate so I am unsure of any known issues.
Any chance you can post a list of the plugins you’re using? Have you tried turn ALL plugins off an enabling them one by testing to see for any interactions? you may also want to try enabling the 2014 or 2012 theme and see if the issues is still apparent when theme is switched.
April 27, 2014 at 21:26 #16213SplendorParticipantI use this one, it’s pretty nice and works as it should: http://wordpress.org/plugins/pluscaptcha/
April 29, 2014 at 19:02 #16423AbeKeymasterThose plugins should act similar on both themes since it is related more to Buddypress system

I am now using the NURCaptcha plugin (New User Register Captcha), which uses Google’s reCAPTCHA, and it works on the KLEO registration page with Buddypress!
April 30, 2014 at 11:15 #16534SplendorParticipantinstead of using contact form 7, use this. https://wordpress.org/plugins/si-contact-form/ or http://wordpress.org/plugins/ninja-forms/
Fast contact form comes with captcha. On ninja forms you must buy an addons for captcha..But both are nice.
