Hi
when viewing an uploaded video in the lightbox player for the first time, there are no video controls. No pause, volume, resize, no timeline, basically no interaction possible on the first play of the video.
Once the video has played through completely to the end, thereon in the player controls appear and function normally.
Please see attached.
I have contacted rtMedia support about this. They have said as follows:
Hi Adam,
The player already has user control options present on your website. However, there are some styling has been added by current active theme or any other plugin by which the player controller not showing correctly.
You can check once by deactivating the current theme or plugins. Hope you will find the solution.
I have experimented by activating TwentySeventeen theme, and yes although the video does not open in a lightbox, the media players are present, nicely formatted and working as expected. See attached.
This must then be an issue with the Kleo theme. Please can you let me know how to fix this issue?
Actually since reactivating the Kleo theme, now the video does not play in a lightbox at all and just plays on the activity line in the same way as TwentySeventeen does, with the correct player controls. Is there a way to switch between lightbox view and no lightbox view?
Many thanks.

May 5, 2017 at 20:14 #160538RaduModeratorHi,
There is no option in our theme options for that.
If the behaviour is not as it should try to de-activate child theme and the rest of plugins except Buddypress and rtMedia and test again.
Cheers

as I explained in the first email – and provided screenshots for – I have tried with a different theme (Twenty Seventeen) and the controls are present and working. And they are white.
In Kleo, the controls are either missing, or the control buttons are black so you can hardly see them.
May 9, 2017 at 17:23 #160789RaduModeratorHi,
I cannot reproduce that I’ve tested on my local install
Take a look: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bxo5b6iHWRMwYUc2T01xT2FhVW8/viewIf I missed something let me know and make a video that shows exactly how to reproduce that.
Try to re-upload theme files or to update it

since this post I have reinstalled the theme and find this issue still present. Please see attached screenshots.
You can see this happening yourself if you go to the MEDIA library using the URL/Login I will post below, and click the video there. You will see the video controls are missing on the first play.
Please look into this.

I am going to reinstall the site today. I will report back here when it is rebuilt so you can see this issue happening.
May 15, 2017 at 06:16 #161387AdamKParticipantOk this is the third reinstall of the Kleo theme and I am still getting the same issue with the media controls on the first play. See attached.
Please log into the site (details below), go to MEDIA under user profile and check the video yourself. Or feel free to upload a video clip and see it happening.
Please advise.

I do not know if this is helpful. I have been watching the styles for the player elements, during first play and on completion of first play.
The only thing that I can see which changes is the mejs-control class – during first play the position:absolute is nulled out. Once the first play is complete, the position:absolute becomes active again, and the controls reappear. See attached.
Please advise, thanks.

Take a look, cannot reproduce on yoru site : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bxo5b6iHWRMwREdFbFQtVWRfQXc/view
Anyway, you can force the position using this CSS
COPY CODE.mejs-wmp .mejs-controls {position:absolute !important;}
The CSS will be added to wp-admin -> theme options -> general settings -> quick CSS

ok there is something weird going on with my desktop because this is happening in all my browsers. On my laptop this is not happening so I will put it down to a local issue and mark this as resolved thanks.
