Hello lately my server seems to get overwhelmed by
/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=kleo_bp_notifications_refresh¤t=1
I saw that there is a couple of old threads with this is issue where Radu gives some files to replace, BUT he also mentions that they have now been included in the release since 2.4.1
Should I try those files anyway? Is my issue different?
Thanks,
Dre

September 18, 2015 at 09:27 #78327AbeKeymasterHello, in Theme options – BuddyPress try to set the refresh interval to 40000 which means 40 seconds refresh time or what you think is appropiate.

Last night I tried turning it off by setting it at 0 and this morning things seems better but I am not sure if they will last. Also it’s a feature I would much rather have on and working.
September 18, 2015 at 12:14 #78341AbeKeymasterFor 60 seconds then the value is 60000
0 will disable the live notifications ajax request
Please make sure you have the latest Kleo version installedHi there!!! Help others from the community and mark any reply as solution if it solved your question. Mark as a solution---

Now it is at 0 and my server is not crashing anymore but it might also be due to the fact that there is very little traffic on Friday mornings.
I make sure to update Kleo within 24hrs of every new version so that is all good. Although I wonder if users watching my content (videos are 2-3 hours) would technically be on older versions of the page and therefore Theme code which would result in a long delay before I could see positive effects of any of the changes we have discussed.
September 18, 2015 at 16:28 #78367MScDreParticipantI am using New Relic to analyse performance and after 12hrs of having notifications on 0 the calls for
/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=kleo_bp_notifications_refresh¤t=1 seem to have died down (i hope I am reading it right)But /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php is still under heavy load, anything else that could be calling on it?

September 22, 2015 at 15:54 #78895MScDreParticipantIs 7th Queen available for hire for custom work? I have parted ways with my previous developers and could really use some assistance, would be great if the new Devs were also the creators of the Theme I am using
September 24, 2015 at 12:43 #79305AbeKeymasterYes, please give an email to cornel@seventhqueen.com who is in charge with custom development.

Probably unrelated to the theme, I’m having trouble with admin_ajax.php, but due to incompatibility with backbuddy which was causing my Apache Server to shut down due to overwhelming requests to mySQL server.
I’m on DreamPress and Varnish is (believed to be) caching admin_ajax resulting into unfinished processes, ultimately overwhelming the sever.
September 24, 2015 at 17:26 #79344MScDreParticipantThat is a really good tip @gm713 🙂 I am on a Rackspace Startup account for my servers and they have enabled Varnish for caching, I am thinking it’s more than just a coincidence will see if I can exclude admin-ajax.php from varnish.
The tool I am using is http://newrelic.com/ and its pretty darn awesome.
September 24, 2015 at 17:36 #79349gm713Participant@mscdre My backupbuddy issues started about a month or two ago. Prior to that backupbuddy worked without any issues, so you’re right it could be more than a coincidence.
Let’s stay in touch to see if our issues may be related. I’m working with the backupbuddy support team to see if they’re able to zero-in on the problem or not. I will report back with findings. Please let me know how your issue and resolution progresses.
