Sharing links in the activity stream which include http:// not working

We are using the buddypress features of Kleo, since we have created a small community. When we try to post an external link in the activity stream it is only accepted if the link goes with: http://www.whateverlink.com but it is not accepted if the link includes the http:// before the link. This will confuse our users since probably when they try to share a link in the activity stream they most probably will copy it directly form the navigator address bar which always includes the http://.

 

Is there any way to allow the use of links whether if they have the http:// or just the www.
