Right now, when someone sends a private message to an other user the entire message is being sent to the users email.
There are several reasons why this is not ideal.
1. For non-paing members ( member without a membership level – I use paid memberships pro)
I need to show only an excerpt of the message. (maybe the first sentence or so)In the email that is being sent there should be a text indicating that this is only en excerpt of a message and that in order to view the full message the user should become a member ( link to membership option page ).
2. For members that have a membership level ( users that can respond to messages )
When they receive a message notification in their email it should say that in order to respond to this message they need to log in into their account.That they should not respond to this email, because the website owner will receive the message and not the person that has sent the message.
Many users do not understand that and reply to this message email notification directly and I receive that message in my email.
I also need to have the same message in Spanish.
3. An other thing which is the most important and the reason why I want to show only an excerpt is that some users send their phone numbers or email in the message, which the non-paying members and see in thier email.
Is there any way to filter out all numbers and email adresses from the messages?

August 29, 2018 at 17:24 #207893RaduModeratorHi,
1. For haiving reply from email i think you need a third party plugin since i’m not sufe if buddypress support that.
Check this : https://www.buddyboss.com/product/buddyboss-reply-by-email/
Ask the plugin author additional related questions before buying to make sure all good.
2. For pmpro extending restrictions you can take a look on their addon directory here : https://www.paidmembershipspro.com/add-ons/
The buddypress default emails notifactions can be handled under wp-admin -> emails.
3. To can be able to filter the all messages if they contain a certain word or link or phone there will need a plugin or a custom solution since what you ask cannot be done with available tools, so a plugin or a coder can do those for you.
Cheers

I go to wp-admin -> Emails
and choose:[{{{site.name}}}] New message from {{sender.name}}
{{sender.name}} sent you a new message: “{{usersubject}}”
“{{usermessage}}”
Go to the discussion to reply or catch up on the conversation.
If I delete this: “{{usermessage}}” then I think the message will not be shown, which would be a solution,
but I´m interested that instead of showing the entire message only a excerpt can be shown.Please look at the link I provided above.
August 29, 2018 at 19:05 #207911mycolombianwifeParticipantMy temporary solution is this one.
Alexander sent you a new message: “hi”
Please do not respond to this email.
To view your message and reply to it please log into your account using following link: https://www.mycolombianwife.com/members/test2323/messages/view/24948/
Please note that only members can view and respond to messages.

August 29, 2018 at 19:10 #207912RaduModeratorHi,
That logic where message generates it’s part of the buddypress plugin not theme side, so you will have to ask the buddypress related questions on their support forum.
I don’t have any workaround for limiting the message content based on user membership level.
Looking for that string in buddypress files and it’s here : wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-functions.php
The logic for generating the message seems to happens in other place, ask that in buddypress forums.
Cheers
