    Hi,

I am having trouble when I share single blog post to Facebook. Meta fields are being parsed before the blog post contents. Furthermore, the date field is parsed twice and without separator.
It happens with both placings, left side and under title/breadcrumbs. Only if I turn single post meta off it looks ok on Facebook share preview but then I don’t have that information in the single post.
I tried to share on LinkedIn and that works ok.
Those two first screenshots are from Facebook Sharing Debugger.

Then I wanted to see how that works ok KLEO demo sites. I found tho posts in the same category of the first demo that appear differently when shared (screenshots 3 and 4). Link to those:

The difference between the two is the title length. If title is longer, the rest is not shown but hen I found this one and shared it. It looked just fine (screenshot 5):

I am confused now. Any idea why is this being parsed differently to FB?

    Thanks a lot!
    Cheers, Amer

    Hi,

At this moment the OG tags missing from your website page source which facebook require that to generate the preview of the shared link and that’s why facebook parse page randomly.

For that you will have to install SEO by YOAST plugin : https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-seo/ that will allows you to set a custom image, desc, title for social share see screenshot

    Cheers

    Thanks Radu.
This seems more like a workaround and not the solution.
I understand that with Yoast I can define whole different preview for posts and pages on Facebook but I think it is wrong for meta to be parsed like that by default, before the post/page contents. Do you think that it could be corrected in some future update? I am not coder myself so I wonder is it possible to leave meta out from parsed post/page content?

I attach before Yoast and and after Yoast screenshot. (I have defined custom description within post’s Yoast social options – third screenshot).

    Cheers,
    Amer

Our theme not generates those automatically so there is no issue with our theme to fix because this it’s not implemented.

So facebook requires those tags… without them fb cannot know what content to pull, so there it should be specified.

Check also this plugin : https://wordpress.org/plugins/og/ from what i read it autogenerates the data.

Also makre sure to use new post every time since the facebook caches the link content sometimes https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/sharing/

    Cheers
