Site very slow and responsive

I love the theme first of all. I’m having a problem with its slowness. I’ve turned all the plugins off and on one at a time and it seems to slow back down when turning on RTL. I really need that feature to be on when using buddypress and there seemed to have been a few updates lately, that still has not fixed my problem.

My suggestions on making your site load faster are:

– Using a CDN – Cloudflare and Amazon Cloudfront are Free.
– Moving to a faster hosting, Hostgator has a good one for wordpress sites.
– Use Smush it plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-smushit/
– Use Wp-Optimize plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-optimize/
– Use a caching plugin: W3 Total Cache is a very good choice: https://wordpress.org/plugins/w3-total-cache/
– Lower the amount of plugins in your site.

Laura, Thanks for the information. I did everything that you said and the site is still running slow. The images are not that many or that big and I’m using Smushit now. I put my site on Cloudfront. Every plugin Im using is pretty much from the theme. Any other help would be appreciated.

All the plugins I have on are for the site. Anything that is off can be deleted. But everything I have activated must be for the site to operate.

I have added a plugin : Remove query strings.
Also Enabled rocket loader from your cloudflare account. If you see anything working wrong just disable it.

Hello, Disabled Minify on W3TC (cloudflare already does this)
Disabled object cache (conflicts with buddypress)
Activated Cloudflare W3TC extension.
Page Load Speed Reduced to 2s
This may be better once the W3TC rules are set in your .htaccess (the link i sent before)

I am using W3TC, but the link that you posted with settings details does not go anywhere.

I had been using Cloudflare, but it was masking the IPs of malware traffic brought to the site by Buddypress’s vulnerabilities. I’ll try implementing it with the Cloudflare W3TC extension.
