Style Recent Posts Widget

I would like to add style to the recent posts widget display but it looks like the avatar, title, and excerpt are all inside a <p> tag without any class definitions.
I would like to make the title bold and get rid of the italics on both title and excerpt.
Do I need to go into the actual widget code to do this? I did find the widget at framework/widgets/widget_recent_posts.php.

Hi, The avatar is in a span with class=”avatar”.
That is the path to modify the widget if you want. We will add some classes to the title and excerpt in v2.3

Hello, in 2.3 was there anything added regarding blog post excerpts? For standard blog entries, I’d like to control the text that’s shown when showing when a list of posts, for example, if somebody clicks a tag. I know that the number of characters can currently can be controlled but for me, it’ll change from post to post.

Hi, We haven’t added anything related to customizing the excerpt depending on the type of archive you are viewing.

You could customize the template files content-xx.php and add some conditionals for the_excerpt()
