Sweetdate Update

I recently received an update from Sweetdate. I wanted to know that if I update the file will I loose all the customization that I have done on the site? Would the update include the new Media Plugin?

I just did not want to update my site and loose all the hard work I have already put into it.

If you have modified any template files directly in the Sweetdate main theme without using the child theme then the changes will be lost. Any other changes in the database will be kept. Make a backup of your files before updating

Just so I am clear, if I use a child theme to update sweetdate (my site), then I can update without any disruption to the customized site? Right?

I am knew at this, what is a child theme?

Allways make a backup before update.

Use a plugin or direct download via FTP.

Thank you so much for your input Carsten. This is very new for me, therefore most things are over my head. I spend a lot of time doing research. But Abe has been very supportive.

I have made several updates with plugins for my site nothing seem to have changed, except for Woocommerce. But that is another story in another posting.

How will I know if I working in the Child theme format or Main theme?

In Appearance – Themes you need to have the Sweetdate Child active so any changes in the child theme to take efffect
