SWEETDATE UPDATE

Hi 7queen,

I need to update the sweetdate theme, I read few posts here but seems is not as cleared info and watched the video how-to setup. But the setup is mainly for brand new (not specified for update only ).

I may did an update wrong many many months ago, this probably my site is not reading some css, new functions I put in the functions.php or bp-custom.php ?

I already downloaded the zip file (I”m confused, too many child/parent file in different folders/sub-folders) I hope not asking too much, but would it be possible to tell me step by step, which folder(s) child / parent folder, which need to unzip to upload, etc to overwrite my existed site to work properly?

Hello, to update the theme, you need to make sure you have child theme activate and that you didn’t change main theme files, any change done to main theme files will be LOST after the update, so make sure you have all changes duplicated at child theme!

At Sweetdate > Misc you will be able to add your themeforest username and api key, found at themeforest > account > setting > api

Add the api and username and save, then you will see an advice to update the theme, if you dont see it, go to Dashboard > Updates

Remember to make a backup! 🙂

Hi Laura,

Thanks for the information, cool, I got this api and username from themeforest now and already in the misc section. Here is the image. What do I do now, would the sweetdate theme will automatic update itself or wait for some kind of message etc? Can you tell me how it go, so I will know or keep my eyes for?

On the last image I circled in RED. That guy whom optimized my site, he installed that plugin (Envato WordPress Toolkit). I have no idea what is it, should I delete it now since I already inputted the username and api key?

Please advice and thank so much about the username/api key 🙂

Hello, you do not need the envato plugin as sweetdate already has the place to add the api, so when there is a new update, you will see it at dashboard > updates

Got it, no wonder that envato plugin never show me anything. There an sweetdate update I received email off and on, will keep my eyes open.
