I received an email from Envato that there is an update for the Sweetdate Parent theme and I downloaded it from Envato. It appears the only way to update is to delete both parent and child themes and re-install, but I think that would erase all of my customizations so I do not want to do that.
Is there any other way to update the parent theme without losing customization? Thank you.

You can update theme without loosing the customizations from theme panel by using FTP then go to wp-content/themes/sweetdate/ here you will upload the content of the new version of sweetdate theme.
To be sure that customization will be saved go to wp-admin – theme options -> import/export -> show exported text then copy that code and save it for later.
If you will follow my first advice it should to be ok.

Then, I imported my customization text that I had saved as you instructed. Then I just had to add a minor CSS customization that I had on the Child Theme to make my logo 150X150. That all seemed to work fine, everything looks great.
Just to verify, the most updated version of Sweetdate parent is 2.9.1 right? Is that the version that was updated on December 4, 2015? And can you tell me what things were changed in this update?
Thank you.
