Is there a way to turn off the free membership? when I choose the settings in general “anyone can register” it disables the people wanting a paid membership from being able to pay and register. When I do check anyone can register I get all kinds of spam registration. How can I keep this from happening. I only want paid members.

Hi, You should leave the “anyone can register” checked if you want people to signup. Try adding a Captcha plugin at registration or plugins like Wanguard

Hi I was having the same issue, I followed these instructions and now have the registration on the sign up page with captcha I installed the re-captcha plugin, I was able to remove the domainname/register page completely to stop the spam and I was able to turn off the anyone can register. the only down side is when you log in if you forget your password and request one the dropdown login page does not show the captcha and will not send you new info.

Hi, if you have spam registrations then add a captcha plugin like Wanguard or any other you can find and works with BUddypress registration
