Hello,
I’m not clear on what “Portfolio” does. Can you give me a brief explanation of what you do with it?
Thanks!

Thanks for the explanation. After checking it out, it looks like you can create categories for “Portfolio”. If that’s true, can I use it in the following way?…
I’d like Buddypress Members, with the role of “Subscriber”, to be able to use Social Articles to upload a photo. When they upload the picture, and select a specific portfolio category, will their picture automatically populate to that category, and display on that category page?
I hope that makes sense.
Also, do you have a tutorial or example of how it is implemented and used?
Thanks for all your help 🙂
January 5, 2017 at 19:09 #148908LauraModeratorHello, social articles use normal post, not portfolio post, also social articles do not allow subscribers to post, but authors.
You could try with another front end publishing plugin that allows subscribers and custom post typesHi there!!! Help others from the community and mark any reply as solution if it solved your question. Mark as a solutionLaura Solanes - Graphic Designer and Web Designer

Well how about this for a work around?…
I found a plugin that allows me to tweak User Role privileges. No any role can create an article, including Subscribers. So that’s solved.
Regarding the Portfolio Category issue…
1. Do you really need Portfolio, in order for members to post pics? I mean, can’t you do the same thing with a regular post?
2. Is there a real difference in the functionality or display between a Post or Portfolio item?
3. If I created a category called “Pictures” under posts, and a member selected that category when creating their article, wouldn’t it still post the picture to that category, just like a Portfolio item?
I guess I’m just not sure if there is a meaningful difference between a Post or Portfolio item. It seems like I can accomplish the same thing with just a Post. Am I missing something?
Thanks @laura
Cheers.

1- Yes, a post is even better
2- If you are going to use the portfolio tab categories then yes, but if not, there is not much difference
3- Yes, if they select a category, it will be posted at that category, i do recommend to use the frontend publishing pro plugin, i already tested it for a Meme community site and was very good.Hi there!!! Is this the Front End Publishing Pro you are talking about? https://codecanyon.net/item/frontend-publishing-pro/8517990?ref=khaxan
If so, does it integrate into a User’s Buddypress profile, like Social Articles?
Thanks!
January 11, 2017 at 00:27 #149418LauraModeratorHello, yes that is. As far as i know it doesnt have a custom link at the buddypress profile but it does allow to use shortcodes to place the form, so you just need to create a custom page at the buddypress profile menu and place a shortcode, google “buddypress custom menu” and you will see some tutorials and plugins 🙂
