I currently have sweetdate 3.2.2 and it has been customized to fit my brand.  Will any of the things I customized be erased or deleted if i update to the current theme 3.2.6?

    Hi,

Thanks for reaching out about updates. From the front-end it looks like you’re using the SweetDate Child theme which is the correct way to manage changes and overrides. If all of your changes have been made in the SweetDate Child theme then you can update the main theme without any worries at all.

If you have made changes to the parent theme, outside of the child theme, then you will lose them on update. If this is the case copy across any files you have changed in the parent theme into the child theme. After that you can update without worry.

As always with anything to do with any kind of updates, make sure you have a full backup of your sites content and database, just in case!

    Thanks,

    Kieran

Hey Kieran, I had a developer update the website so I have no idea if it was customized on the child or parent theme….How would I find out? If so, how do I copy across the files from parent to child theme?

    Hi,

If you can send me some details I can check what the general status of your website customizations is.

If you would like to do this yourself go to WP Admin > Appearance > Editor > SweetDate Child, you should see content in style.css, functions.php and maybe other folders and files depending on the changes that were made.

If they however were made in the parent theme and you do not know the changes that were made you will need to reach out to your developer for more information on what was changed.

    Thanks,

    Kieran

    Hi,

I have checked your site and it looks like all of your changes were made in the SweetDate Child theme so you’re good to update.

I would again recommend that you have a backup of your site when updating anything.

    Thanks,

    Kieran
