Hi, Im working my way through the Sweetdate theme and im having trouble adding the option to upgrade a members membership level via the profile page.
Ideally I would like to place a button along the top of the profile links on the free membership profile pages that says ‘upgrade now’ so that free members can navigate straight to the upgrade page from within the profile.
If possible could someone tell me where i could add this or if there is a more simple way to achieve this that would be great. 🙂

August 3, 2015 at 14:46 #71315trojantechParticipantHi Laura,
I have since fixed this issue by configuring the pages in the backend. A similar issue I am having is with regards to the forum, I have set certain forums to paid membership but free members can still see them and when they click on them it just says you do not have the correct membership level.
Is there a way I can either:
A: Set it so that when they click on the restricted form it takes them to the upgrade page.
B: Have these forums hidden from free members?

August 4, 2015 at 18:18 #71528LauraModeratorHello, maybe you could use Groups, have a private group and the forum topics of that group would be hidden for users that are not in that group. Maybe in a future release we could add more restriction options

August 6, 2015 at 15:37 #71953trojantechParticipantThanks,
I have 2 queries:
1, We do not want to use the ‘public Message feature as we are restricting messaging down to paid members therefore we only need the private messaging feature, is there a way to remove the plublic messaging item from view?
2, Once logged in, we want to have the ‘edit profile’ linked into the users menu in the top right, is there a simple link I could add to make this happen?
Thank,
TT

August 8, 2015 at 22:24 #72294LauraModeratorHello, the public message is the Activity feature.
I see, that dropdown is created by a php file, you will need to edit it to add the linkHi there!!! Help others from the community and mark any reply as solution if it solved your question. Mark as a solutionLaura Solanes - Graphic Designer and Web Designer

August 9, 2015 at 18:34 #72341trojantechParticipantThanks Laura,
I have noticed 2 further issues if I could get your help.
1, in the profile where the users age appears. It says birthday and then gives the age, It needs to say age but when setting the label in admin it dorsnt update.
2, also in the profile it displays the users full name, we need it to only show username for data protection. How can I set this?
Thanks
August 10, 2015 at 22:21 #72493LauraModeratorHello, about 1. In profile settings should show Birthday and in the profile tabs for other users should show Age
2. Can you modify the Field visibility in Users > Name?Hi there!!! Help others from the community and mark any reply as solution if it solved your question. Mark as a solutionLaura Solanes - Graphic Designer and Web Designer

August 11, 2015 at 19:15 #72594trojantechParticipantI can change visibility for individual members but we need it to display as username automatically for all members.
As for the birthday, on front end it shows the text birthday then gives age, we need to have it say age.

August 12, 2015 at 05:18 #72662LauraModeratorHello, you can go to Users > Profile fields and change Birthday field name for Age also Name for Username

September 9, 2015 at 01:43 #76654arielsfrParticipantChanging the label from ‘Birthday’ to ‘Age’ solves the problem, except when creating or editing a profile. This requires the date of birth but is labelled ‘Age’.
I would like to suggest a very simple solution. Remove the ‘Show age instead of birthdate’ option completely; leave Birthdate as is, and add the computed age after the name in the profile page heading, so that:
<h2>John</h2>
becomes:
<h2>John, 24</h2>.
Or add an h3 underneath with age and city/country.
Could I trouble you for the code to do this, please? Thank you very much!
September 10, 2015 at 10:50 #76884LauraModeratorHello, that is not possible right now, as it would require to edit the theme functions. It would require some time and development as its a custom request. I suggest to hire a developer

September 12, 2015 at 19:21 #77326arielsfrParticipantCan I not copy the appropriate files to the child theme and modify them? I’m a programmer; my knowledge of WP (and especially BP) is so-so, but I can usually figure it out. I’d appreciate if you could just tell me which files I need to copy — thank you!
September 13, 2015 at 21:43 #77462LauraModeratorHello, try with bp-functions.php, you will find the function to look for in member-loop file
