Hello Sqadmin,
I am not very good updating themes. It’s ok if you can show me in screenshots (step by step) how to do it , please? or can you upload a video? Thanks
I am using Filezilla to upload my files. http://d.pr/i/ckop in this screenshot you can see that I have sweetdate / sweetdate-child / sweetdate.old……. The thing is If I am going to upgrade my theme I am going to be confused because I will have sweetdate.old2 or something like that, I guess. When I upgrade my theme, I upgrade my sweetdate – child as well? or I don’t have to touch that file? How can I use my theme without lose any changes in my sweetdate -child?
Thanks my friend,October 8, 2013 at 16:05 #4002wisinyyandel7ParticipantSqadmin, do you know any good plugin to do backups? I am trying with Updraftplus, but it doesn’t work on my wordpress.http://d.pr/i/7A9M.
Thanks for your help I really appreciate it.October 9, 2013 at 00:45 #4036SQadminKeymasterHi,
You should rename your sweetdate folder to sweetdate_2.1 to know which version it was if you want to save a history of versions.
You DO NOT replace sweetdate-child. Thar remains intact since it has all your theme customizations. After you have renamed sweetdate folder, just copy the updated sweetdate folder. That is all. There is no need for screenshots since it is not a complicated process.
Cheers

I don’t know what happened but I think I did a big mistake upgrading my sweetdate version because I cannot see my website.
The old sweetdate folder I renamed as you told me. I called this folder sweetdate 2.2 and I copy all the files that I download from the new updated file.
I thought that everything was going to be fine, but it wasn’t I don’t know what I did, i am trying to look for the answer. I don’t know what to do.
I would appreciate any help from you. It’s really urgent.
I wasn’t sure if I had to leave the sweetdate folder (the old one) and upload the new one.
Thanks for your helpOctober 20, 2013 at 10:37 #4697wisinyyandel7ParticipantI uploaded the sweetdate folder v.2.2 by Filezilla.
October 20, 2013 at 11:11 #4703JohnDoeParticipanthe did’nt say sweetdate 2.2 , rather call it sweetdate_2.2 , try uploading again.
October 20, 2013 at 11:20 #4704wisinyyandel7ParticipantThanks,
First the folder was called Sweetdate and I renamed for Sweetdate_2..2 which is the latest version and all the files inside i replaced for the new ones, it means I overwrite all the files.
was it a mistake? did i have to renamed the folder sweetdate? i am confused.
Now, I cannot see anything in my website 🙁October 20, 2013 at 11:25 #4705JohnDoeParticipantupload it as sweetdate instead of sweetdate_2.2 , but keep it as sweetdate_2.2 on ur pc to know what version you have.
