Users vs. Members

I had three people sign up on my site today as registered users.  However, these people somehow registered as “users”, (see attachment) not going through my paid memberships pro signup process.  How are they doing this and how can I correct this from happening?  Thanks for your help!!!

I am only starting out here, but I discovered if one if using the facebook log in, people can circumnavigate the whole of paid membership pro and register via that.

Kinda defeats the whole point, but oh well!

Dont think of it as users vs members. Think of it as memberships being a feature of accounts. In other words, members/users/accounts dont exactly mean membership. Its confusing until you understand that adding a membership plugin like PMPro does not stop people from creating an account without becoming a member. Especially if you’re using it combination with buddypress. There are many ways to get all of these plugins to act like a single cohesive account/membership process. But its something you need to research to figure out whats best for your site. PMPro is a free plugin, but they charge you a membership fee to get to the information you need to make that decision and the code that you need to achieve it. Some people disable buddypress and facebook registration all together and force users to only sign up using a whatever membership plugin they are using. Some people allow buddypress or fb registration and add custom code that will automatically add that user to the “free” membership level they have created. Some people use the information provided by PMPro to add buddypress xprofile field info to their pmpro registration page. The information is out there and even in topics here. I strongly suggests you pay PMPro for access to their paid support. In the long run, it will save you money in time and headaches.

Kleo’s main role in all of this is that it stylizes those plugins. However, the 7th Queen developers did see a major gap in how PMPro/Buddypress sites worked. Well, DIDNT work together I should say. PMPro out of the box only blocks posts and pages. It doesnt do anything to control access to Buddypress. The 7th Queen developers created a way to block access to Buddypress features based on PMPro levels which you see in Theme Option / Memberships.

Well, I need everyone to register only through my paid memberships pro login. How can I disable every other option?

Unassign the register page in the buddypresss settings.

I’m not sure unassigning the buddy press registration page in settings is solving my issue. When I test it out, it looks like visitors are being redirected to my main home page…which is good. I think my problem might be that visitors can somehow still get to the Kleo default “register” page and click on the register link (see attached). Is there a way I can keep them from getting to that page? Will it work if I restrict that page to my PMP levels…so they have to go through the PMP process before they can see that page?

Your site is still showing the buddypress registration form, so it looks like you didnt un-assign it in Settings > Buddypress > Pages. Once you do that, you can change your levels page to the Register page.

Ok, so I have no page assigned to the Buddypress register page and have assigned the register page to Membership Levels in PMP. You think this will solve the problem? Won’t people still be able to register through the WordPress login screen I attached to this ticket previously?

How? When they click the register link on wp-login.php it takes them to the levels page.
