I have updated VC since my previous support question (see https://archived.seventhqueen.com/forums/topic/gap-element-missing)
Now, whenever I edit a page, the custom CSS and theme general settings for that page revert to the defaults. So it does save the settings and custom CSS, but the next time I update the page the changes are gone. Also the edit screen no longer defaults to the VC visual editor, I believe it did before.
It is a very frustrating problem to have. I hope you guys can help in figuring out why this is happening.

Others that were having this issue were able to figure out that there was a conflict with Yoast SEO. I know you dont have that installed, but have you tried to ID the conflict? If you temporarily enable the WP 2015 Theme, do you still have issues with the CSS not saving? What about the plugins?

I actually do have Yoast SEO and disabling it indeed fixed the issue. I see in the VC changelog that they added Yoast compatibility improvements in v4.5 Any news on when we will get this version with Kleo? Any workarounds you know of to keep using the SEO in the meantime?
I have VC 4.5 installed with the latest kleo dev code. Let me do some digging.
I dont have any insight as to when 7th queen is planning on updating though.

I cant reproduce the settings and css issues with 4.5, so I guess that’s good. I’ll do a code compare of the different VC versions and see if I can pluck out the code that fixed it. No guarantees though.

Alright, let me know what you find out. It would be great to be able to use Yoast’s WordPress SEO again asap, we rely on it heavily for our metadata and sitemaps.

Okay. I found a file that is specific to SEO that has changed significantly. The problem is that I can reproduce the settings and css problems you’re having on my Kleo 2.4.3 / VC 4.4.3 install so there’s no way for me to test if this file fixes the issues AND if we can just replace this one file without causing other issues.

Thanks for looking into it. I am willing to test it by replacing the file in question on our server if you feel it has a chance of working.
You can try it, but I take no responsibilities if your site blows up. I actually tried it on my site and didnt have any issues, but again, I couldnt verify if it actually fixed anything. Rename /plugins/js_composer/include/autoload/vendors/yoast_seo.php and put the attached file in its place.

It didn’t break anything else but it didn’t fix the problem either. What I will do for now is turn off Yoast SEO when editing general page settings or custom CSS, then turn SEO back on. It’s slightly annoying but I am guessing a proper fix isn’t far away since both Yoast & WP Bakery seem to be talking, perhaps there is some other subtle change in 4.5 that fixes this.
Maybe. There were hundreds of file changes. I obviously didnt look at all of them. Just the obvious ones 🙂

I’ve been testing with a copy of VC 4.5.1 from one of my other accounts and can say the problem with Yoast/VC is fixed. That is: The custom CSS on a page level is saved and the editor defaults to VC. All other weird stuff with changes in url etc. are gone.
The Theme general settings still aren’t saved after page edits though. You might want to look into working with Yoast on how to fix that or see how VC addressed it.

Hi, I’m having a similar issue with this. I’m Using Visual Composer 4.4.3 with updated WP 4.2.2 and not able to save my changes on the frontend. Does the update of wordpress have to do with this? When I edit normally I see my main featured photo for portfolio, but when I edit in VC “frontend” it disappears. Also where can I find and disable the Yoast SEO or what I need to do to resolve this, I’m still fairly new to WP so a detailed answered would help best, Thanks.
I think its a yoast issue, not WP. Anyhow, disable yoast seo, edit and save your page, then enable yoast seo.

Yes, with VC it just seems easier, I looked at your demo http://dev.sharmstr.com/home-2/ and love it, wondering what is the best way to achieve this. This is basically the look I am going for, and how you have it separated in portfolio categories. Just trying to find the best way to do this but with post instead, I’m kind of new to wordpress so the if you could tell me where and to apply the shortcodes or what it is I need to do, would gladly appreciate it, Thank you!
I meant using VC’s backend editor. By the way you described your issue, it sounded like you were using VCs frontend editor.
You can install that page by going to Appearance > Kleo Demo > Specicifc page > Pinterest

Yes Thank you Sharmstr, I’ve been using the backend VC it works great! It would just be nice to have everything working properly, but using the backend for now is fine. I have installed the portfolio full width overlay, and I figured out how to change the categories (Design, photography, Print, Videos, etc)I just want to know how to link my post or portfolios to the home page so when a visitor comes to the “home page” they can see my featured post and can click on them and takes them to that page or post. I’ve attached a screen shot of the post I would like to change. Thanks.
I’ve created portfolio categories, and created new portfolio pages, but when I select the box on the right side (in the backend) of what category I want it to go in, it does not show up on the home page. Sometimes only the name, but no portfolio image like the screen shot I sent you, its like this one below

Thanks for the info, will keep trying different combos of plugins for my VC 4.4.3 install. on VC 4.5.1 I only lose the page general settings, which is much easier to fix than having to put in the custom CSS on each edit. You may close the topic for now.

@ SeventhQueen we do our best to have super happy customers. Thanks for being our customer.Cool. Seems very specific. Its unfortunate that the SEO response was “I dont have the plugins”, since Rev Slider has $56k and VC has almost 80k in sales. Not to mention all the bundled copies out there.
