WordPress will not properly import .xml file

Hey I’ve just purchased KLEO and am looking forward to working with her. However, after downloading the WordPress importer I am finding that the .xml file will not properly upload into my site.

To check; I created a vanilla install, then installed KLEO and wordpress importer, same issue. When trying to import attachments with the file, I get a VERY long hangtime and then, nothing. If I do not load attachments, then the Pages and such load up but there are still issues.

Welcome, griffinfae. In the future, it will be helpful to have more details regarding issues you come across. Expanding on “will not properly upload” will help point you in the right direction. Timming out is a common issue with import, maybe that’s your issue.

I have just spoken with one of the guys at WPMUDEV. He says “@Griffin I found the error, you’ll need to contact the theme developer, the .xml file doesn’t validate, they’ll need to fix that and make sure it validates for WP to import it. 🙂 ”

I just validated the file and there were no errors. Maybe your file got corrupted during download or extraction from the zip file?

installed wpmudev plugin

installed KLEO
installed wordpress importer

same issue. clicking on download attachments takes forever and results in ‘WORDPRESS IMPORT’ coming up twice on screen.

Hi, Having a similar issue to some of the other folks on this page. I’ve gone through the complete process of uploading the .xml file several times – checked and double checked that I’m doing it right both according to your install video and the documentation provided – and all I get is a blank page displaying “pageok”

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Abe.

Do you have any update for me (us). I can’t really make any progress without the ability to upload your .xml file. If I need to rebuild the framework from scratch I might need to look for another template.

Please let me know how you want to move forward. Right now I have a template that I can’t use.

try to import it without media attachments since the upload could take some time and maybe the server is set not to run a long duration script.

Also on Monday we should upload 2.2. update where we added a 1 click install functionality where you can import all demo or just choose what content type to import so you can try with that.

FYI, I tried to import the .xlm without the demo content and same result. I’m not using godaddy.com, I’m using mediatemple.com.
