it does seem that everything is working as EXPECTED UPON PURCHASE. Yes…thank you.
cosdatesParticipantWhat it seems to me is that you are saying that one cannot purchase your theme, install it, do web-based configurations within the theme, and be up and running within a couple of hours. What is sounds like you just told me is that after purchasing the theme, there must be high levels of coding that must be done in order to make your product work as it was billed to work out of the box.
cosdatesParticipantAs for us trying to do things that the theme wasn’t designed for…could you elaborate? Because I thought this theme was designed to be a dating site theme that would work immediately. If I am mistaken about this, then please let me know, because I have some suggestions for changes on how you describe this theme.
cosdatesParticipantOkay, now the only problem is when I click ACTIVITY at the top to take me to, effectively the Buddy Press activity feed, I get redirected back to Membership Levels.
I was able to successfully create an account, use a discount code at checkout, and process payment. If the above issue is resolved then it looks like we’ve found all the errors until after our BETA test.
cosdatesParticipantI bought a turnkey theme with plugins that was supposed to work out of the box. It hasn’t worked since day 1. First it was activation issues, then it was payment plugin redirecting to home (which is where we are at now) and then when I thought we had that fixed it was account creation.
This system isn’t working as it should…PERIOD. We were sold a bill of goods that were bad. I don’t want to press the issue, but I shouldn’t have to pay MORE for custom programming for something that SHOULD HAVE WORKED FROM THE BEGINNING!
I’m not trying to make this do anything that I was not led to believe that it already does. On the Envato Marketplace it says “Membership levels”…and it also says…”awesome support”.
If a Support person is telling me that the only thing that I can do is pay more by hiring a programmer that he is going to recommend to me to fix something THAT SHOULD HAVE WORKED AS IT WAS DESCRIBED then this is a bait and switch tactic.
Please, offer me some of that “awesome support” by helping me fix this issue to work the WAY IT WAS INTENDED TO WORK!!!
cosdatesParticipantI deleted the theme only and reinstalled it.
Now, I can easily create a profile and activate it using the activation link sent via e-mail…however, we are back to the issue we had before. When I select a level it redirects me to the HOME page. I presume this might have been the code that PaidMembershipsPro had added to the functions.php code, but now that seems it may have created a conflict during the account creation phase.
PLEASE HELP!
cosdatesParticipantFirst, I did not edit any of the code of the theme or plugins.
Second, am I reading you right saying that there’s nothing you can do to help other than telling me to hire a programmer?
The only things that I have done to the themes or plugins is simply used the admin aspects to set up our settings. This is mighty frustrating, I must say @Andrei.
Have you even looked at the admin side of our site? Please help!
cosdatesParticipantThe plugin BP Disable Activation Reloaded was installed by SeventhQueen trying to help, but it did nothing. Also, the tech from PaidMembershipsPro said she added some code to the functions.php file for the theme that was meant to prevent the redirect from happening. (When you selected a level it redirected to Home page).
There is no activation e-mail that I received when I signed up for my account to test it out. There’s no record that I even typed anything in. And if you were to disable buddypress and then repeat the steps, you’ll see that by the time you get to the screen after the levels, it gives you a form to fill in more of your profile for your account. So, you telling me that it would naturally not log you in is something I don’t understand.
If you have attmpted to create an account, please help me fix this. If not, please try to create an account so that you can see what it’s doing. ALSO…in this forum thread is both admin login information AND ftp information set to private…please use whatever you need to help fix this problem.
cosdatesParticipantHello @Andrei, the site is as it is.
Go to http://www.cosdates.com and click the button at the top right that says “Sign Up”. Create your account in the lightbox popup and then proceed. When the Levels pages opens, select any level and you’ll notice that it’s now prompting you to “Log In” or “Sign Up” again. Clearly indicating that it didn’t carry the membership information over that you created. When you try to log in at this screen (or any other) it says “ERROR: Invalid username. Lost your password?”, so then you do the “Sign Up” and it redirects you back to the levels page.
NOW, in the admin side, when you go to check both USERS in the WordPress users function, no one shows up, even in pending, nor do they show up in the members list of PaidMembershipsPro.
I have been back and forth with SeventhQueen and PMPro support and (as seen above) they say it’s a Theme issue. I have been able to successfully create a user account AND make payment, provided I disable BuddyPress plug-in…which is the meat and potatoes of the SweetDate theme.
We have a convention to go to this weekend where we have paid nearly $500 for marketing materials and access at the convention just to announce our site and the site isn’t even working. We have demoed others and we like SweetDate and we don’t want to have to settle for one of your competitors…especially since they too run BuddyPress and we’ll probably just run into the same issues again. PLEASE HELP!!!
cosdatesParticipantAfter Deactivating everything and reactivating one by one, it’s clear that the error lies within the BuddyPress plugin. Is there anything that you can do to help, please!
cosdatesParticipantPaidMembershipsPro said this:
It looks like these are all issues specific to this theme, and it seems like there are a lot of strange things going on. I would contact the theme author to try get them fixed.
The “Create your account” button in the popup links submits the form to the checkout page, but no level is passed. I’m not sure why this links to the checkout page instead of just creating an account, but the checkout page needs a level passed like https://cosdates.com/membership-checkout?level=1 or using a hidden field in the form.
action=”https://cosdates.com/membership-checkout/”
When no level is passed, PMPro redirects back to the Levels page. Is there somewhere in your theme options, etc. to change those links? Please help! 🙁
cosdatesParticipantOkay, I had fixed the membership levels. But now what happens is when I go to sign up and put the initial information in and it takes me to the membership levels page, I noticed that it’s still asking me to Log In or Sign Up…then when I select the level, same thing.
So, now while you can select membership levels you still aren’t signed up.
I just don’t know anymore.
cosdatesParticipantOkay…NOW WHAT!?!
Okay, so I updated and WAS able to go through the process of creating my account AND signing up and making payment.
We got 3 people who signed up but they required activation but couldn’t. They couldn’t activate because the activation link that was e-mailed to them directed them to a 404 error. After doing some searching online about this issue with BuddyPress I found the fix…then when I corrected that and verified that it worked (Confirmation page was nested under “Membership Account” page > set to No Parent) I went to try out the coupon codes and it once again redirected me to the HOME page. I double checked the link’s target and it is going to a nested link. I unnested the link and tried it again…still does the same thing. PLEASE HELP! We cannot collect money and our users cannot access the site without this! I will follow this post up with a private post with admin creds.
Thanks.
