Allow autocomplete without friend connections

As far as I know, the autocomplete will work only from your friend connections so if you have that disabled, you will probably won’t have an autocomplete.

…you need to disable autocomplete for friends connection. But where do i find this option? In Kleo settings or is it in WordPress settings?

I have not enabled friend connection enabled, but I do have private messaging. I want logged in users to be able to send direct messages to people and lookup names. When I start typing a name, the searching wheel spins, but never displays results.

No problem Catalin. My next challenge is to get autocomplete to work for @mentions in the activity stream as per Buddypress 2.1 revamped @mentions interface. Please let me know if you hear of any solutions to get this working.
