clumsy profile tabs

clicking through tabs on a profile is incredibly clumsy, especially while attempting to edit your own profile. every click on a tab causes a full page refresh, requiring you to scroll down to get back to whatever it is you were doing. has anyone worked up a better way? ajax tabs or an alternative layout for this page?
