"Like" For BuddyPress Activity Stream

I have read these topics here:

And looked for other options around the web. Nothing seems to work all that great (and the “like/unlike” plugin mentioned in one of those topics above can apparently no longer be found). For example, the BuddyPress Like plugin doesn’t seem to work very well with how Kleo displays the activity stream (there are extra lines and such, and it just looks rather bad and sloppy).

Has anyone found a nice solution for allowing members to like activity stream items and to be able to view a list of people who have liked the content?

I have tried that, but it does something weird to the line that connects activities in the activity stream. It looks a bit odd. See what I mean in this screen snip? The thin line goes too high up.

Also, are there any plugins that would permit users to like replies to status updates? Or are we just out of luck on that one?

I’ve tried all of those. No bueno. And I had the same issue – and some – with ULike. Closest thing to decent is the Pro version ($20) of WTI Like. But even then, they don’t/can’t/won’t put a like option in the actual BP activity stream – I’ve asked three times.

Voter-plugin said the Like of Activity Stream items *might* be sometime this quarter, but after their most recent update, I get site errors, so I deactivated.

And they still have an issue where Likes in a Private BP group flow to the Public Activity stream – not good.

I’ve added another comment to the Feature Request Vote for expansion of the existing Kleo Like, if you haven’t voted, go add your voice there.

I’m amazed someone hasn’t filled this need.

Thanks for your input, Laura and mitchcan. My experience has been similar. I’ve tried everything mentioned so far with similar results, with the exception of WTI Like pro version (I wasn’t sure about shelling out for it–I have tried the free version, and it’s actually ok except for all the links to their stuff, which I guess maybe you can remove if you pay them).

I am using the Voter plugin currently. It is the best I found, but the main problem is that the “view voters” only works for the top item in the activity stream or a forum! Any statuses or responses below it that have likes cannot be viewed, because it just keeps opening/closing the list for the top item. My fellow admin who has more technical expertise thinks he may have come up with a “bandaid fix” but we are waiting to see how much difference it makes.

And yes, the phantom looking likes in group activity showing up in the activity stream are kind of irritating and clog things up.

I voted for that feature request a few days ago. It’s hard to believe this basic functionality that users are accustomed to on pretty much every social media type site is so difficult to get on our sites.
