Hi,
I really liked the idea if the user was logged in, it would show the search form on the frontpage, and if the the user was logged out or a visitor was on the frontpage then the register form would show. The individual selection to show one or the other works well, except for the “mixed form” selection only shows the search form for visitors and users not logged in.
Any ideas why the “mixed form” selection for the frontpage isn’t working?
Would love some help as this is an excellent feature you guys added,
Thanks,
NicholausAugust 13, 2013 at 15:48 #1322SQadminKeymasterHi,
We tested but it works.
Do you have any caching plugin? If you do, then you have to configure it and exclude from cache the front pageHi there!!! Any ideas?
Thanks,
NicholausAugust 13, 2013 at 22:41 #1345SQadminKeymasterHi.
Yes that should be the reason why you see the search page. W3 cache has an option not to cache pages for logged in users and when you log out it probably serves the page from cache. You have to configure the plugin not to cache the front pageCheers

Mark as a solutionAugust 13, 2013 at 23:16 #1348nicholaus1221ParticipantThank you that helped, for some reason though everytime I go to the front page when I’m logged in, the site doesn’t think I’m signed in and the login button at the top right appears instead of the profile and logout buttons.
This only started happening once I updated the theme to v1.5.
Do you have an idea why this could be happening?
Thanks,
NicholausAugust 13, 2013 at 23:30 #1349nicholaus1221ParticipantNvm, it was the plugin I have called Peter’s Login Redirect that was causing the issue. I had the logout URL set to the homepage which was messing it all up.
Thanks again for your help,
NicholausAugust 14, 2013 at 07:49 #1367SQadminKeymasterGreat you have solved that out 😉

I changed my theme to a default BB theme and the system worked normally. So I know it isn’t a plugin. I don’t have a caching system installed. Any help is much appreciated!

August 16, 2013 at 04:58 #1436girlinparisParticipantAnd apparently it is only on the new mixed form on the frontpage. When signing up through the facebook option instead, it signs the person up but no activation email. This is fine with me, but I want to use the mixed form.
August 16, 2013 at 06:59 #1439SQadminKeymasterHi,
We will test this and see what is it about.
If you go directly to /register link and complete the fields this happens also ?Hi there!!! Help others from the community and mark any reply as solution if it solved your question. Mark as a solutionAugust 17, 2013 at 04:47 #1459girlinparisParticipantUpdate, this is only happening in FireFox when also signing up for a blog. FireFox doesn’t let me tab through the fields either, so maybe it’s a FF thing? I don’t like to use it but some people do. 🙁
August 17, 2013 at 11:25 #1470girlinparisParticipantCorrection, it is only happening when signing up for a blog during registration. Regardless of the browser. The user does not get registered and the blog does not get registered. I’m sorry if I’m a pain, just trying to keep you updated as I test my site to hopefully cut down on your dev time!
Love this theme, can’t wait to get all the bugs out. It’s perfect for what I’m building.
August 19, 2013 at 17:59 #1513SQadminKeymasterHi,
We did some tests and it seems like when you have the multisite enabled and choose to register a blog you will receive an email to activate your account(check your spam folder too). If you don’t click the email activation link your user won’t be created.
We modified a file from the theme that we think could cause the issue: sweetdate/registration/register.php
Replace the contents of that file with this: https://archived.seventhqueen.com/files/register.txtDo a test with the new file and check your spam folders or try with other email account and let us know
Hi there!!! Help others from the community and mark any reply as solution if it solved your question. Mark as a solutionAugust 19, 2013 at 18:32 #1516girlinparisParticipantStill not working. There is no activation email being sent out and no user created. The dropdown on the blog signup is the only thing that changed for me. (btw I like the dropdown). Also when I have “users can create blogs when signed in” option checked, it won’t allow registration at all. If that helps.
August 19, 2013 at 22:17 #1528SQadminKeymasterHi,
The site user is created once the activation mail is clicked.
Try to change the content of main theme functions.php with the one we are testing:
https://archived.seventhqueen.com/files/functions.txt
Give us a link to your site if it still doesn;t workHi there!!! Help others from the community and mark any reply as solution if it solved your question. Mark as a solutionAugust 19, 2013 at 22:38 #1539SQadminKeymasterThat page gives a 404 error, meaning it doesn’t exist. That was the problem all along?

August 19, 2013 at 22:45 #1541SQadminKeymasterI see some options to go premium at bottom and Uses wordpress plugins developed by http://www.wpdevelop.com in the footer that renders kind of bad on the success page. Can you disable extra plugins for testing?
Hi there!!! Help others from the community and mark any reply as solution if it solved your question. Mark as a solutionAugust 19, 2013 at 22:50 #1542SQadminKeymasterAnd if I try to register the same site name again it says I can’t, which is good meaning that the request is saved but maybe you have an email problem and is not sending emails
Hi there!!! Help others from the community and mark any reply as solution if it solved your question. Mark as a solutionAugust 19, 2013 at 22:50 #1543girlinparisParticipantAll plugins disabled now except buddypress and bbpress.
I just realized a moment ago about the footer one, that plugin went bye bye forever.

As well as when I’m logged in and create a new blog.
August 19, 2013 at 22:57 #1547girlinparisParticipantDid you register for a site? I only have the problem when someone registers a site at initial signup.
August 19, 2013 at 23:07 #1548SQadminKeymasterI registered now and I haven’t received it. This happens only with the mixed option? Seems odd to be an issue with that. With the Bp default theme does this issue still exists?
Hi there!!! Help others from the community and mark any reply as solution if it solved your question. Mark as a solutionAugust 19, 2013 at 23:10 #1549girlinparisParticipantWhen I refreshed you were in there….and now you’re gone…..poof…*blinks*
I don’t know what happened, perhaps cuz we both clicked on the activation link?I don’t think it’s the mixed option now…I don’t even test with that anymore, I go straight to the /register page.
Checking with bp default.
August 19, 2013 at 23:15 #1551SQadminKeymasterI removed my account to register again. Definitely it is not a Home page form issue
Hi there!!! Help others from the community and mark any reply as solution if it solved your question. Mark as a solutionAugust 19, 2013 at 23:23 #1552girlinparisParticipantI agree, at first it seemed that way because everything worked before the last update and that was what I changed, adding the mixed form. However, in further testing it definitely is not. I have activated the buddypress default theme and the same thing happens. This is why I was wondering if our bp files got changed in the last update. Because before I updated to v1.5 I didn’t have this issue.
August 19, 2013 at 23:26 #1553girlinparisParticipantIf your theme doesn’t modify bp files (v1.5), then it has to be a bp bug. Right? btw I really appreciate all your testing and help to figure it out. Well worth the $55 I paid. 🙂
August 19, 2013 at 23:29 #1554SQadminKeymasterNo we don’t modify any core files. I did the same exact test as in your site but without https and I set a prefix not a sufix for the blogs.
We will figure it out. No problemHi there!!! Help others from the community and mark any reply as solution if it solved your question. Mark as a solutionAugust 19, 2013 at 23:31 #1555SQadminKeymasterBefore the update have you modified some theme files? Or maybe after the 1.5 update you changed some settings?
Hi there!!! Help others from the community and mark any reply as solution if it solved your question. Mark as a solutionAugust 19, 2013 at 23:35 #1556girlinparisParticipantI have redownloaded (last night) and reinstalled a fresh version of the theme. I have some css overrides in the sweetdate dashboard styling page but the only mod I made was redirecting logged in users to their profile page using the php from this thread:
https://archived.seventhqueen.com/forums/topic/members-cant-registerAugust 19, 2013 at 23:51 #1557girlinparisParticipantSadly I had this problem before the php mod to redirect logged in users. 🙁
What is baffling me is that the only way users can register is if I have “Both sites and user accounts can be registered” activated in Network Settings and they don’t choose to get a blog.
When “User accounts may be registered” is checked, no user registrations come through at all.
I did some extensive research regarding buddypress and this issue and didn’t come up with anyone having the exact same problem. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling buddypress and …yes…..dumping wp_bp tables…..don’t ever do this.
I had to restore to my version from 3 weeks ago and rebuild the site from there. (Godaddy overwrote the backup I made prior to my reinstall, I usually stay away from them but I was sucked into their last sale)
August 20, 2013 at 22:28 #1616girlinparisParticipantI just wanted to follow up to say:
This is not a theme issue…at all….sorry that I thought it was 🙁
This has something to do with my setup.
As a result, since everything else is working, I will just hide the “get a blog” option on signup and have users get their blog once they are logged in and signed up. It’s probably better this way anyway, to avoid too much splogging. <–is that a word?
Anyhoo, thank you so much guys for your support and hard work trying to help me figure out the issue. I will be using the theme and look forward to more goodies down the road. 🙂 A million thanks for your efforts and otherwise premium support 🙂 🙂 🙂
August 20, 2013 at 23:04 #1619SQadminKeymasterWe’re glad we could help. That’s why we are here 🙂
Good luck with setting up the site and thanks for the appreciation.Hi there!!! Help others from the community and mark any reply as solution if it solved your question. Mark as a solutionAugust 21, 2013 at 03:07 #1625girlinparisParticipantI finally found the problem tonight and all is back to normal….
JETPACK…that was the problem. I installed last week so I could connect to wordpress.com and was having lag issues so I uninstalled and the lag went away….I had also deleted it ….
Tonight I thought well let’s give it a whirl….and reinstalled it….now my site works like it’s supposed to.
Jetpack y’all…..really?
August 21, 2013 at 09:01 #1634SQadminKeymasterWow. It never crossed my mind that Jetpack can do that 🙂
Always it is a good ideea to test with all plugins disabled.
I am glad you figured it out.
CheersHi there!!! Help others from the community and mark any reply as solution if it solved your question. Mark as a solutionAugust 21, 2013 at 13:13 #1639girlinparisParticipantIt was disabled, in fact it was deleted….
I just retested and when it is inactive on my network, it locks up registration/blog. Crazy I know. -
