No profile page found + link pages + cannot get to startpage + background image problem + only 1 membership level is showing

Hello!
I have some questions! I would be glad if you could reply to all of them, thank you! I have been struggling with this for far to long and I really need help to sort the stuff out now!

 

1. I have all the pages for the membership account. I have my startpage and I have a page called Activate (what is that for – it’s empty anyway), but I have no page for the profile field page….How come?

At your template demo there is no blue menu bar in the header section – so why is there one on my website???? Please, help me to remove it, please!!!  

3. I don’t find anywhere where I can link pages to my menu buttons…. Where do I do that? When I click my logo – I get to Member page instead of Startpage!!

4. On my mobile device there is a register form showing up. On my computer, no register form shows up…And on my computer it’s impossible to get to my startpage….I continue getting to Members page all the time! I type my domain name in the webadderess field, and I am transferred to my Members page – why???

5. I wanted to have a background image only on the frontpage/startpage….which seemed like a choice, right?
But it didn’t work out. When I talked to my host about, they told med that in WordPress it’s not possible to have a background image in only on the startpage in WordPress…..??
Anyway – have removed the background image – and still it is showing on my Membership Level page…!! Why?? And also….Only one of my membership levels is shown, although I have 3 levels!

My question to you is: Can I have a background image on some pages, but some not?? How?

I really hoope you can help me with these things asap and directly, please!

Hello, please check each step 🙂
1- Activate page is empty for you but there is a script that generates dynamically all the information when the user visits that page to activate their account.
(What blue bar? can you share a screenshot?)
3,4-The issues you are having with the members page might be because you have Members as front page in Settings -Reading? please check it out and let me know, check Settings > Buddypress > Pages to select the register and activate pages

About 5, its a bit confusing, can you explain how are you adding the background?

1. Activate page: Okej, I see….so I don’t have to worry about that one. The script is included and generates automatically when the member has registrated? How does it work? Member registrates, and they get an confirmation email automatically? And from a link in the email, they get to the Activate page??? Yes?

Yes, I have checked it out at Settings/Reading. Startpage is set to starpage.
I have also checked Settings/Buddypress/pages and Activate page is set to Activate and Register is set to Startpage, is that correct?

5. Background Homepage:

This is where I have tried to add background to only startpage. But my host says that background images in WordPress only works for all pages, not only Startpage.
So, if you could tell me if it is possible to have one background for startpage and another/others for the rest of the pages…?

And this is how my Membership Levels page look like….I have made 4 levels, but only one is showing:

Also, when I bought this theme I understood it would look like this (see attached pic)if I wouldn’t do any changes to it….but NOTHING is like this:

Not that I want these colors or so….but I expected it would look like this and that I then could modify myself everything.. But I can’t even get the registration from to look like that and be placed like that. I could see it on my phone except that I there hade two different registration forms as I mentioned in an earlier message. I have succeeded to remove one of them…which is the one I wanted to keep (the one on the pic), but that one I couldn’t change language on.
So do I “load” the skins somewhere or what?

I want a site without profile pics. But I want the members to be able to send pictures to each other through messages. Anyway, the grey default profile pics…Is it possible for me to design a little more fun default profile pics? For example one that look more male for men and one that look more female for women? Or actually my biggest wish is that the members profile pics are real ones that they have added, but that they are blurred, until member choose to show her/his picture for a certain member. Would that be possible?

Visual shortcodes: Can you explain what it is? And when to use it?

It says at your SweetDate-description that “Before import you have to activate BuddyPress, bbPress and the theme Layered PSD’s for Customizing. Well, I have not activated that last theme. Where do I do that?
I really would like to be able to customize my pages visually…like drag and drop or at least place the stuff where I want it. How can I do that…I feel so handicapped!

I must add, that since I last wrote to you, I lost my patience about the blue bar and the startpage being a Members Page, so I decided to just delete my Startpage and my Members page. The blue bar is still remaining at Members Page though…Please remove!

I went to PAGES to create new Startpage and Members Page, but now everything is screwed up. I will not explain. I think it’s easier if you just go into my Theme Stylings and to Pages and to BuddyPress….You’ll see what is wrong and can fix it.

As Homepage in Styling section doesn’t respond to my settings, I have tried to do the settings for homepage in Pagebuilder in PAGES instead. I have tried to add BuddyPress Register Form, but it asks for REGISTER PAGE URl and for RESET PASSWORD URl…..and I don’t have that information. Means I can’t add my register form from either Theme Styling or from PAGES. Please help me with that.

Should BuddyPress Register page be synked to Startpage or to Registerpage?

I am not sure either which pages should be childs to what pages. Please look into it. Thanks!

One more thing:
How can I preview Profile Fields page? Do I need to register myself to be able to preview it?

I noticed some of the issues were because you didnt import the demo data and didnt setup buddypress correctly, i did the proper changes and also added custom code to your style.css , please check the last one that is the code to change the background of the home page, just change the url of the image.

Hello, membership levels should show if you do not have a level selected, in membership account you should see your level if you did select one 🙂
2- Can you share a screenshot and what do you want to do exactly? 🙂
3- To show a background image the container in mobile version wont look good, that is why its better like it is, responsiveness 🙂

5- The popup form is not the complete register form, it should redirect you to register page, so its working fine 🙂 About the password, make sure you do not use any punctuation

I see, but if a user create a username and password in the Popup Form, it is strange to do it again when transferred to the actual Register Page.

No, I haven’t used any punctation. Only “therese” as I wrote.

Now I try it again, and after filling the Popup Form and clicking Submit…..nothing happens. I don’t get transferred at all to any Register Page. I am still at Startpage…:-(
Can you look into that please and correct it :-).

2- Check that pages are well set at Memberships > Page Settings
3- This happens when you have SSL setup in one of your pages but not in others, make sure you dont have SSL at memberships settings
4- This page is dynamic, its normal that you see it empty if you go there directly

7- Should appear as Home
8- Same as 4

Order of registration:
– Popup form
– Register form
– User Registered Already –

User Activation ( you can skip that installing the plugin bp disable activation reloaded, so your users are activated automatically)
– Email link, redirects to activation page (dynamic page only visible when user clicks the link)

Now user can login, if you have members directory page restricted, the user will see the memberships levels when trying to view any restricted page or doing any restricted action

But if I follow your above recommendations….turning off the matching….then members will not match at all, will they??…I am confused…I still want members to match, but I don’t want women to match each other if it’s not in their settings. Hello, i meant to disable gender matching, so it doesnt match you because of your gender, you can find that at Settings > Buddypress > Matching fields, leave blank

All members can see all members, the matching system is only the circle % at each user profile
Search form is at Settings > Buddypress, you can check what fields to show, and you can modify each field at Users > Profile fields

This is not available maybe a developer can do it for you 🙂

For the footer menu, check at Appearance > Menus and select footer, check if the footer check is selected

To translate anything at the theme you can use the plugin Loco Translator 🙂

What do you mean by matching results There are no matching results at the theme just a circle that shows a %

The account never expires, just the level of the account, after it expires the member doesn’t have access to your restricted areas.

The member can pay as you have it setup at paid memberships plugin

I have done the optimization that you recommended, step by step. It turned out that my website got even slower. Before optimization 7 seconds. Now it varies between 11-16 s!!

I have also read all support-threads about the issue and followed steps.
I also did the Pingdom test not only from my computer, but from my phone indoors and outdoors and at my neighboors computer where they have good connection.
I have a cloud solution at my host.

I have removed images in the media library, called “background_image_dim” or similar, because that image had a long yellow “bar” at the testing result, but still Ping is analyzing it.

First when trying to deactivate rtMedia, not much difference showed. But when I re-activated it today again, it added like 7-11 seconds.

Please, Laura, can you help me with this? A datingsite without pictures….isn’t much of datingsite, is it? So I assume you can fix my speed as much as possible, thank you! At least I want my members to be able to upload images for “friends”.

I have removed Group Page…but Buddypress asks to repair.

Also I don’t want Group functions to be shown in Activity Stream for example. I have set it to “NO” in the settings, but still “Groups”-tab shows at profiles.

2. Does Membership Account mean the Profile Page?

Hello, for a dating website, depends on hw many members you want to have, i would say 5000MB – 10000MB Disk space and around 50000MB – 80000MB Traffic

Hello, the child theme is used to store all the custom changes. CSS , php codes
The child theme is included at the .zip file of the theme, and should be the one activated at your wordpress backend
Both installed, main and child, but child should be activated always, so your stored changes are not lost in future updates.

1- It means the privacy or terms and conditions page so users accept it
2- Complementary fields matching ON means that is a woman is looking for a man, then they can match fields, but if a woman is looking for a man and visits another woman profile, then they wont match

Then matching fields percentage will give them X% just because they look for the same, example:
Man looking for woman finds a woman profile, automatically they get a 50% matching percentage
Man looking for a woman finds a man profile, they are matched with 0% even if they have things in common

3- rtmedia and bp album is the same, rtmedia will allow them to have an album of photos. The profile photo is just that, a profile photo, and its default at buddypress, nothing to be with rtmedia 🙂

4- It depends, if your server have enough bandwidth everything should be fine, the bandwidth is used as the traffic the site can support

CHILD THEME:
Okej, I understand, thanks…So….where is what in my wordpress?
– APPEARANCE > EDITOR = child theme or main theme?
– PAGES > EDIT = child theme or main theme?

1. PRIVACY PAGE:
It says like this:
“Select the page that is used for privacy info.
This will be used in login modal” while for Terms and conditions page, it says:
“Select the page that is used for terms and conditions.
This will be used in register modal”

Is it really needed with a Privacy info when member login? Cause I have privacy info in Terms & Conditions page that will be needed to be accepted at registration.

2. PROFILES MATCHING
Yes, I understand about “Complementary fields mandatory matching”-field, thanks :-).
But as I set this to ON, WHY do I need to fill in “Complemtary fields percentage”-field by a chosen percentage? And what should it be set at? 100%?? Still don’t get that field….:-(

3. rtMedia Buddypress
Really? ‘Cause since i deactivated rtMedia to make my wordpress smoother to work with, all profile pics dissapeared…??

Hello, if you installed both themes, then its at Appearance > Themes, just activate it and thats all, for changes, add css changes to style.css and functions to functions.php
If you ever need to edit a file, just copy the file to the child theme using ftp, and edit it there. Child theme is like a mirror, so to make the change of a file effective, it has to be the same path of folders like in main theme.

1- You dont have to select it if you dont want 🙂
2- That field is the % they get just because she looks for a man and HE is a man. Imagine they dont have nothing in common, but she looks for a man and he is man looking for a woman, well they would have, lets say 10% of matching
I would set 5 , 10 or 0

3- That is very weird, might be an rtmedia bug with buddypress, i never seen that before…

4- That depends… so i cant really say, anithing more than 1gb = 1000mb

bbpress is a forum plugin, if you want to have a forum use it, if not, dont use it 😀

1. I am trying to use the code for Register Form transparency that you recommended…..But could you please tell me exactly where in the code I can change tranparency and how (i.e. 50% transparent). Also the form ends up in the middle of the page….Where in the code can I change to left position?
Maybe you could mark it for me with red color os so?

2. I tried to google how to make new line….but I didn’t make it work…
