Notification Push with Buddypress

We’re looking at push notifications in the browser.

 

Is there a plugin recommendation to send both the notifications that appear on the submitted image icon and the post notifications?

 

We found a plugin that sends notifications of posts. But we also want to send the notifications of the individual users, type facebook with the messages.

The only plugin I know of that does what you describe is https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-desktop-notification/, however, this plugin has not been updated for over 2 years.

Serving these kinds of notifications locally will likely exhaust the resources of a shared server.

There is a service/plugin available called OneSignal which handles push notifications for WordPress but I do not know if they support BuddyPress yet or not. It might be worth reaching out to them to find out. They can be contacted here https://onesignal.com/
