This was a joint project and I have washed my hands of it so you can close the ticket. Thanks.
pduberryParticipantCatalin,
Well done for figuring this out. How did you do it? I haven’t seen the is-sticky class. Anyway, it works just fine now. I really appreciate it and many thanks. Case closed!
Regards,
Paul.
August 18, 2014 at 15:27 in reply to: Losing code when switching between Front-End and Back-End Editors #25897pduberryParticipantI have a page with three tabs that I added with VC. I then click the CSS button to style the tabs and when I click save, the window just stays there instead of closing so it doesn’t save the changes. The workaround was to go to the Front End Editor and make the changes to CSS there which works but when I return to the Back End Editor all my HTML code is gone from the first tab and a small amount from the second tab. That’s it. A right pain. It’s clearly a bug either in VC or Kleo theme or WP itself but don’t know enough to say for sure.
pduberryParticipantOne thing I meant to ask you was this. Are you using Firebug to identify the various classes that one can select for targeting?
pduberryParticipantYes. Don’t want to push my luck. Anyway, you are the man/woman, not sure. Thanks a million for your help. You deserve a medal.
pduberryParticipantYes. (Hooray) That worked but back to your comment about the fact that I wouldn’t like it…. 🙂
pduberryParticipantEither way, you are probably right. Even if I did get it working, having the background that tall is a non-starter. I would just like to have the text in the link a different color. This would look better.
pduberryParticipantSame problem as you. So do I need to put the code beginning with & or the greater than symbol into style.css?
pduberryParticipantI’m confused. You say: “its returning “>” instead of “>””. Are they not the same? I have put that extra code in but still not working. And yes, I figured out how to edit the searchform.php using WP-ADMIN Editor. Thanks.
pduberryParticipantHere’s the code I have put in style.css right at the bottom:
COPY CODE.current-menu-parent > a { background-color: #848484; }
It doesn’t make any difference. I am beginning to wonder about this style.css as nothing I put in there appears to work. This is using Appearance-Editor right? Can you please further explain how I might change /kleo/searchform.php using wp admin editor?
pduberryParticipantActually, that did work after I read your last email carefully. The member link changed below the Community main link. But, …I want to change the main link. Now we are getting somewhere.
pduberryParticipantI didn’t know what alternate background color meant. However, even when I choose to set an alternate background color it makes no difference. There must be some settings somewhere overriding all this. If I could even set just the alternate background color I would be happy. On the second issue, I am unable to get FTP access to the server to copy that PHP file onto the child theme and edit it. I’ll try later. I don’t know how I’m going to resolve this. Thanks anyway.
pduberryParticipantJust to be clear, you’re
adding the code to kleo-child/style.css AND you
have the Kleo Child theme active, right?100% correct!
pduberryParticipantOops. I’m so stupid. Sorry but that’s the wrong TLD. It’s http://wishnet.makeawish.ie. Also, you will need the username dsa and password dsa123. Hope you can get in now 🙂
pduberryParticipantThe code you are giving me is very different from that of Catalin. Does this code not relate to the social icons up top?
pduberryParticipantpduberryParticipantI do apologise. I thought that you were a member of the Kleo support staff. Thanks for helping me. The link to the site is . Unfortunately, I am unable to get you into the backend as this is just a site that I am working on for a client.
Cheers, Paul.The other question is regarding the search widget that can be put into the main sidebar on all pages. I would like to be able to add a placeholder so that the word “Search” shows in the search field before anyone types anything into the bar.
pduberryParticipantI add this code to style.css in Appearance-Editor and it makes no difference whatsoever. Am I missing something? Can you address my additional question that I have asked as well please? (I also would like to add a placeholder to the search widget in the main sidebar. Can you help with that?)
Regards,
Paul.
pduberryParticipantI got to tell you this support is left lacking somewhat. It’s like pulling teeth. Three days later and I’m no further advanced in getting this problem resolved. Not happy.
I also would like to add a placeholder to the search widget in the main sidebar. Can you help with that?
pduberryParticipantI have unsubscribed for a couple of emails but I keep getting emails. I want all emails to stop please. Can you do this for me?
pduberryParticipantAny chance of a reply? Do you need me to rephrase? Great. Looking froward to your eventual response.
pduberryParticipantFigured this out using Visual Composer. Just wanted to do it using raw HTML/CSS but no worries. Another question for you instead. If I create a page using Bootstrap 3 HTML classes, how will the page know where to get it’s CSS from? For instance, this line of code will not be in the HTML in WordPress.
<link rel="stylesheet" href="assets\css\MyStyle.css" type="text/css" />
Thanks,
Paul.
