    It’s activated and working because I purchased and installed a separate license, otherwise the included version would not activate or reveal anything other than basic WordPress shortcodes.

    Note: I have purchased a license to Visual Composer just to make the BuddyPress shortcodes show and activate the plugin.

    I can confirm this problem. Customization have no affect and randomly reset. I am hosting on WP Engine and implemented a child theme.
