Are you saying there is no way for your theme’s home page search form to work correctly without using a page builder plugin? If there is a solution here without using a page builder plugin, I would very much want to go that route.
I extremely dislike being told that I have to install an intrusive plugin which I will have to maintain as part of my site environment forever, and which will lock my home page into a situation where I can never go back to not using the specific page builder plugin.
I especially dislike this when all I need is for my one page to work correctly like it was working before your giant theme update broke so much on my site.
Assuming that yes, you are saying I HAVE to use Elementor, then my next problem is that I get a fatal error when trying to edit my sample page with Elementor. The fatal error appears to be originating from your plugin’s code, here is the error.
( ! ) Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function bp_get_member_total_friend_count() in {path_to_site}/wp-content/themes/sweetdate/custom_buddypress/bp-functions.php on line 1496
Please help? Even if I did want to use Elementor like you are suggesting, I cannot do so because it causes a fatal error on my site.
singleandsoberParticipantUsing the BP Members Search plugin has fixed the pagination problem when submitting a search via the Members directory page.
However, on my specific installation which was built before your 3.0 release, I still need some help getting the home page working.
After I unchecked all of the “MAIN FORM” fields on the admin page Sweetdate > BuddyPress > Search form customization(DEPRECATED), the only thing I see on the home page now is “Please configure your form fields under Sweetdate – Buddypress”.
How can I get the new search form I created to show up on the home page? It is working for the Members search page but not on the home page.
Thank you
singleandsoberParticipantThanks for your response. It would have been helpful to know how this all works up front along with the theme upgrade. I read the upgrade info when the update was released; and I did not see anything describing this problem. I’m not sure how customers/site owners can be expected to do anything other than just have their site break and then open up a support ticket. It makes me wonder how many sites are out there broken right now for this very reason, and whether this is even a thing that you consider or take the time to care about when making product decisions.
In addition to breaking the search functionality, the change also requires customers to re-do all of the styles that we had in place for the forms on the home page and the members page, so I am not a fan of this change and don’t think it is thoughtful or respectful of your customers. It is basically a large inconvenience with little-to-no benefit that I can see in terms of the end result.
Finally, to clarify, since you mentioned that it might be a child theme issue…this is a problem with your product and not with my implementation. I went through the efforts above to describe that I was testing with a fresh WP installation and using the parent theme, so for those reading in the future this is definitely an issue with the product not being backwards-compatible with previous versions.
Anyways, thank you again for your response. I hold out hope that someday I will be able to migrate away from using your product so that your decisions to break previous versions of your software will not affect me any more.
singleandsoberParticipantThank you for sharing these filters. That brought back my checkout form! I am now able to have the option off, BuddyPress activated, and have a working checkout form.
singleandsoberParticipantHello,
As I have noted in this thread many times, there is no need for you to look at my install. It is a fresh generic install that I am using solely for testing; and everything I am saying can be verified with your own fresh generic install. I ask you once again to please not suggest that this could be an issue with my install.
As I have also noted many times in this thread, I do not wish to have your new “allow registration from the checkout page” option turned ON, so let’s please focus on your screenshot showing what happens when the option is OFF.
I notice that your screenshot shows what happens when the user is not logged in. Can you please log in, make sure BuddyPress is activated, make sure the theme option in question is OFF, and post another screenshot of what you see?
For me, I see an unusable checkout page with no checkout form and no submit button. I am attaching a screenshot.
As I have explained previously in this thread, the form comes back if I deactivate BuddyPress. However, I need this to work with BuddyPress active.
Thanks

I provided my testing URL with your assurance that this would be kept private, and you have just posted it publicly.
Next, as I stated in a previous post (https://archived.seventhqueen.com/forums/topic/pmpro-checkout-button-disappeared#post-179488), this is not an issue specific to my installation. In this same post, I explain how to reproduce the issue with a clean WP installation independent of anything relating to a specific website. I have also reiterated this information multiple times in this ticket.
The issue is that your “option” to allow registration from the checkout page is not really an option, since it renders the checkout page unusable if turned off while BuddyPress is active.
Please either (1) confirm this is true and that you do not have plans to fix it, or (2) work with me to get to a point where I can have your option turned off and still have my checkout page functional.
I do not appreciate the circular responses which continually seek to put the blame on me and my particular website when I have approached this issue from the beginning as a general bug that clearly applies to a brand new installation.
Thank You.
singleandsoberParticipantI installed the sweetdate-child theme provided in the ThemeForest download. For the record, there is absolutely no practical difference between this and the child theme I described above. Your has an empty functions.php and a screenshot, neither of which add any functionality that I did not have before.
As one might expect in these conditions, when I activated your child theme, I see the same problem. The checkout buttons disappear on the checkout page.
To reiterate, I have a clean WP install with your child theme. I have the option “Allow registrations also from PMPRO checkout page” unchecked on your settings page on the Memberships tab. And I have BuddyPress activated.
This does not seem like it should render my checkout page unusable, but it does.
I should also note that I tested with your newest version 3.2 of Sweetdate and this doesn’t change anything.
Anything you can do to help me get my checkout page usable would be very much appreciated. I would like to upgrade to version 3 of your theme on my live site and not be stuck on version 2 forever, but this issue is preventing me from being able to upgrade.
Thank you
singleandsoberParticipantHello,
I’m surprised that you don’t know what I mean when I say I made a simple child theme with a style.css file and the required header. This is the first step in creating any child theme.
Where can I download your custom child theme that you created? I cannot find it anywhere on your website.
Thank You
singleandsoberParticipantHello,
Thanks for your response. This did not fix the problem for me.
When I create a simple child theme (adding just the
style.css
file with necessary header comment) and then I copy the file as you specified, the problem persists. To recap, I am logged in, selecting a PMPro level, and landing on the checkout page. With BuddyPress activated, I do not see any fields on the checkout page. With BuddyPress de-activated, I do see the fields.
To see whether this is a theme issue, I next tried activating WP core Twentyseventeen theme. With this theme activated, I see the checkout fields whether BuddyPress is activated or not.
The problem I am having is that I do not wish to activate your option “Allow registrations also from PMPRO checkout page” and at the same time I do not wish to have my checkout page fields disappear for logged-in users.
Is the software capable of operating in such a configuration? It seems that the checkout buttons should show up for logged-in users regardless of what theme options are checked.
Thanks for your help.
singleandsoberParticipantOK, yes this causes the checkout fields to re-appear.
However, I do not wish to have my users skip the BuddyPress registration process.
This seems like a forced change which I do not desire to make. My previous user flow works great for me and I like how my users are forced to fill in key parts of their profile data via the BuddyPress registration screen before they are able to join a level.
In other words, reconfiguring my user signup flow is not something I want to do in any way.
Is there a way that I can require the BuddyPress registration page and also not have the checkout buttons totally disappear on the checkout page?
It seems illogical to have “Skip BuddyPress registration” as an option, when leaving it unchecked will render the site unusable.
Thank you for any help you can provide.
singleandsoberParticipantOne problem with this conversation is that you assume I am not technical and not a developer. This is untrue.
Another problem with the conversation is that I do not have any custom changes regarding the way I am implementing the BP Album feature. SweetDate 2.x provided the ability to use BP Album and also specify which PMPro member levels can access that feature. I was implementing all of this functionality exactly the way your theme provides with no customization.
In SweetDate 3.x, you dropped support for the BP Album feature. Your inability to provide support for me on this ticket is a result of your dropping the feature from your theme and not the result of any other unrelated custom work I might have done on my website.
I was simply asking if you could help a customer like myself understand your reasoning for dropping this support and to help me see a path forward for my client. I assumed that you had given some forethought as to how your changes might affect the people who are using your software. Therefore, I wanted to know if you had any thoughts about how one might migrate existing data from BP Album to rtMedia.
I see that my assumption was wrong. You either didn’t think about your customers having this concern, or you simply don’t care that upgrading your software will cancel out premium features for the people who are paying to be end users of the websites that your theme is activated on.
What I know for sure is that I am not responsible for your decision to drop support for BP Album, and I don’t appreciate your implication that it is not your responsibility just because I may have made one or more unrelated customizations on my website.
You may now close this ticket, I do not require additional response from you on this matter.
singleandsoberParticipantThis is not an issue specific to my installation.
Here are the steps to reproduce with a fresh WP installation:
* Install and active SweetDate theme (I have version 3.1)
* Install and active PMPro (I have version 1.9.4.1)
* Create a single membership level with PMPro using a non-zero Initial Payment amount
* Click to let PMPro create its necessary pages
* Go to front end Membership Levels page and select the one level
* Confirm that on the resulting checkout screen, the Submit button is showing
* Install and activate BuddyPress (I have version 2.9.2)
* Refresh the checkout screen and confirm that much of the checkout form, including the submit button has disappearedAre you able to confirm this? Again, this is a brand new installation and not specific to any site from my observation after performing the above steps.
singleandsoberParticipantAs of version 2.9.11 of your SweetDate software product, I can tell you that the version of the BP Album dependency you were using was 0.1.8.14, not 2.6 or 2.7.
I agree it is an important note for SweetDate users that you have made a lot of breaking changes in your product that will require lots of work for your customers to fix in order to continue using your product.
My question was about how to migrate from BP Album to rtMedia; and your answer was to reiterate the fact that I need to migrate from BP Album to rtMedia.
I am disappointed in this low level of service and in the lack of technical detail you are willing to use when engaging with your customers. You have broken a lot of stuff with your latest code updates, and it is irresponsible not to be communicative on a technical level regarding a migration path to your latest version 3.x.
singleandsoberParticipantHi Radu,
Thanks for your input. I had not seen the “Security Header is not valid” message, but actually this is not the issue with this support request.
The issue (per your 5/23 comment and my response) is that I have had to rename your checkout template file in order to get the radio button to work. So, yes, it does work but only because I am not using your theme template.
You had mentioned that you were working on an update so the the PayPal button works when using your checkout page template and I was just inquiring if you had a ballpark date for when this update might be shipped?
Thanks for your help 🙂
singleandsoberParticipantHello,
Thanks for the advice. This did work as far as getting the PayPal radio button to work correctly on the checkout page.
I have been working in a test environment and I am not ready to make this change on my live site yet because removing your theme template from use has caused the styling on the page to fall back to an undesirable state.
I am going to wait until your updates are complete before I add PayPal integration for PMPro because I want both the styling and the functionality.
Do you happen to have an idea as to when we can expect the template to be updated to work with PMPro PayPal Express Add-On?
Thanks so much!
singleandsoberParticipantAndrei,
Is there a plug-in available that we could install on our sweetdate website that users could simply rotate their photo 90 degrees clockwise?
Please advise
singleandsoberParticipantHello Laura,
Thanks for your response. I wasn’t expecting CSS to be the culprit, otherwise that would be a fairly easy fix. To answer your question, I have tried uploading many images and testing them myself. As I noted, it seems to happy most often with mobile devices.
I just tried it again, and a photo that is oriented in portrait mode on my iPhone got uploaded sideways as my avatar image. This is very important to me, as most of the users for my dating site are going to be uploading portrait-oriented images of themselves, and having them come out sideways (even if not 100% of the time) makes our site look extremely unprofessional.
Thank you
