How do they access the group directory? And how do they create a new topic in the forum? I was unable to figure that out myself so that is why I asked. Thanks.
wildbugParticipantThat sort of worked. It changed the text to white but did not change the text to black within the fields. I have the “transparent white” style chosen, does that matter? Because in the code you gave, it says the style is just “white”.
Also, can you show me how to do the code with the numerical value of colors, as I don’t really want “white” or “black” but want to use variations of grey. Thank you.

November 23, 2017 at 18:00 in reply to: Member Grid: display nicknames instead of real names #180791wildbugParticipantI don’t want to display real names; I want to display the usernames, which should be the default. But for some reason, they are appearing as the real names now.
wildbugParticipantThanks for the maintenance plugin, unfortunately it does not allow me to make any changes to the text/logo/image (I made changes and they saved but are not displaying on the front end…). At least there is a user login though.
The editor on my child theme says for header.php “that file cannot be edited” so I cannot alter it on the child theme. Is there anywhere else in the backend that allows me to add code to the header page?
Also, I still need to know where to put the second snippet, which goes on the registration form….?
Thank you!
wildbugParticipantYep. Firefox is the problem. I can make changes using Safari so I am good now. Thanks for your help!
wildbugParticipantThanks but I did not want the text changed to white. Can you please change it back to what it was? My visual composer is NOT saving anything I do on that module, however it saves to the other modules on my homepage — that is the problem and why I was writing for help — I need to be able to make the changes myself. Please advise why mine is not working and what I can do about it. I am using Firefox — could that be the problem? I”m going to try using Safari. Thanks.
wildbugParticipantThank you; I was able to fix the registration text field issue by allowing all users to register.
The text I wanted to change color is the large block of text on the left of the screen shot: “wild water, hot springs, wildcrafting,” etc.
The text I wanted to change is the statement on the right of the screenshot “By registering you are agreeing with the Terms and the Privacy Statement.” I want it to say “By registering you are agreeing with the Terms of Use.” and the “Terms of Use” to be a link to the terms of use page.
wildbugParticipant1) So if I register them manually and keep the site on maintenance mode, how do they log in when they go to my URL?
2) I installed the captcha plugin you recommended. In order to configure it, I need to add a snippet of code before the closing </head> tag on your HTML template AND at the end of the <form> where I want the reCAPTCHA widget to appear (registration page). How do I do that.. where do I input each of those two snippets?
THANK YOU!!
wildbugParticipantThank you for your response; it enabled me to figure out the problem. For some reason, I had this page directed to a custom URL, my own activity page. I don’t remember why I did that but I have fixed it now.
I just wanted to share that the 2 site activity URLs I originally asked for are:
SITEWIDE ACTIVITY http://mysitename.com/activity/
AND
MEMBER’S PERSONAL ACTIVITY STREAM http://mysitename.com/members/mysitename/activity
This is for anyone who searches for this in the future. These are the two URLs I had hoped you would give me with my original inquiry. I could have used these in my menu to get to the two pages, correct?
wildbugParticipantFor example, if I create a page for sitewide activity, it will be blank. How do I get the sitewide activity to display on that page? This is what I am asking for help with.
wildbugParticipantOkay… but I have no idea what the URL is for sitewide activity. I have yet to see that page. Please tell me the URL to use to get to it. Thanks!
wildbugParticipantThank you!
The page associated with sitewide activity is “activity” and yet the URL it links to is http://rewildingnation.com/members/rewildingnation/ which appears to be my personal activity page. Am I incorrect? Is this the sitewide page? If not, I don’t know what page to choose for that. It is not clear which is supposed to be the sitewide activity page.
wildbugParticipantActually, I think your code did help, but only when I changed the 0px to 5px. 0px did not change anything. So that will work for my needs. THANK YOU!
wildbugParticipantBut it’s weird… the page looks different today than when I posted last night. Things look more condensed. I guess I can live with the way it is now. Did you do anything to my site by chance? Or maybe I changed something last night and did not realize it…
wildbugParticipantFYI, that fixed both the groups and the members circles on the homepage. Yay!
I wanted to let you know that I put all code in the Appearances/Editor area rather than the quick CSS on Theme Options because that is what I was originally told to do.
wildbugParticipantThat worked, thank you it looks great. EXCEPT it is not showing 6 across, it is showing 5 articles across and one is doubled down. That is not what I wanted. I want 6 articles across. How do we fix that now?
wildbugParticipantWell I ended up using the members grid and I am happy with the circle size as it stands now. But I would like to put a 10px space between the member circles. Can you help with that? Or if I have to use the widget as before, please help to center the username and activity info under the text and make the circles slightly larger, if possible. Thank you!
wildbugParticipantThanks. I had switched to using the groups grid, not carousel. Do you have the code for the groups grid, to make space between each circle? If that is not possible, how can I reduce the size of the circles in the carousel? There is a place to put the image width but when I input a number, it does not change the size of the circle at all. The reason I want smaller circles is because the images appear blurry on my screen unless they are smaller like the size in the groups grid. Thanks for your help!!
wildbugParticipantThanks but that didn’t really work. It surprises me how little control there is with this theme to make basic styling adjustments.
wildbugParticipantYes, I would love there to be an equal space between each, just a very small space like 1/8″.
wildbugParticipantOkay I figured out how to do it based on your instructions, thank you. So the group circles are smaller now. But they are still touching each other. How do I put a bit of a space in between each group circle so they are not touching?
wildbugParticipantI have two questions in response to your direction:
1) I can figure out how to get 3 equal columns but how do I make the middle column wider?
2) How do I put these 3 columns into my inner container with my background image and custom headers? They all need to sit on the same background image. Thanks.wildbugParticipantThank you. This worked (with additional fields) but since most users will probably be using a mobile phone I decided to keep it as is otherwise they can’t read the field labels on a phone. Thanks!
wildbugParticipantI guess I did not make myself clear … I don’t actually want each post to be transparent, those should be white so they are readable. I want the SPACE BETWEEN POSTS to be transparent. So each WHITE post sits on the background image (earth) and does not appear as one large white block of articles. Is this possible?
wildbugParticipantNeither one did anything. It seems to me that the individual fields must be defined, not the whole element block.
